D&D 5E (2024) Wizards of the Coast Backtracks on D&D Beyond and 2014 Content

This may sound weird/crazy, but hear me out. Over the past few years it has become obvious that WotC has a problem. There have been several times recently where they do something stupid and/or terrible (Hadozee, OGL, copyright strikes against YouTubers covering the new PHB, and now this), then...

Cosmere Overtakes Avatar Legends To Become Biggest TTRPG Kickstarter Ever!

It would be. I started with the Stormlight Archive. So long as you start with the first book in one of the series or a stand-alone novels you should be fine. My sister enjoyed Tress of the Emerald Sea but hasn’t read any of the other Cosmere books.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's your favorite NEW spell for 5.24e?

Eh, not that strange. Life Transference was in Xanathar's, and Wither and Bloom was in Strixhaven. The running theme with Sorcerer/Wizard healing is that it takes some sort of "life force" to be sacrificed in exchange for healing, in comparison to divine healing spells that are less limited...

    D&D 5E (2024) PHB 2024 - General Impressions and Random Things I Noticed

Same with the example of allowing players to make Strength-based Intimidation checks. That was in the 2014 DMG. I'm glad they're moving that to the PHB, maybe it will be more common in the future now.

D&D General D&D Player's Handbook 2024: The Official Advance Review

“Calling it 2024 or Revised 5e is clearly just a WotC corpo-speak marketing scheme to make sure WotC doesn’t lose money on the new rules. Instead, we should ‘stick it to the man’ and use the 2 decades old WotC corpo-speak marketing scheme designed to make sure 3.5e didn’t scare away customers.”...

D&D General Developing a Homebrew Pantheon: Another word for "Saint?"

Yazata means “[an entity] worthy of worship/veneration” in Avestan. I’ve used it in one of my homebrew religions before. It could be an interesting title or epithet for one of your Paragons.

Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive TTRPG Makes $1M In Under An Hour

Well, that is one of the aspects of why people like him. It is one of his strengths as a fantasy author. That is part of why I fell in love with the Cosmere, so I felt it was worth mentioning in a quick summary. I fell in love with the Cosmere primarily because Kaladin was extremely relatable...

Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive TTRPG Makes $1M In Under An Hour

Brandon Sanderson is primarily a fantasy author who tackles a wide variety of topics in his books, including but not limited to: mental illness, colonialism, trauma, oppression, religious fanaticism, and how power affects people. He is often praised for his in-depth world building and magic...

Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive TTRPG Makes $1M In Under An Hour

There is already a Mistborn TTRPG, but it has a pretty strange system. I’m personally glad that they found a way to represent the magic systems of both Stormlight and Mistborn.

Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archive TTRPG Makes $1M In Under An Hour

When I moved in 2021, there was a period of a couple of weeks where our boxes hadn’t been delivered and we had no internet. To avoid dying of boredom, I decided to go to the local book store and on a whim bought the first 3 books of the Stormlight Archive. It took a while for me to get hooked on...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Player's Handbook Video Redactions & Takedowns

From my understanding, if a platform receives a DMCA complaint and they don’t comply within a certain amount of time, they can become legally liable for the copyright infringement. So companies like YouTube generally comply instead of spending the time and resources it takes to check if the DMCA...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Player's Handbook Video Redactions & Takedowns

Interesting and good to know. Thanks for the response. I’m sorry that you and other YouTubers are having to deal with WotC’s mistake.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Player's Handbook Video Redactions & Takedowns

From the PackTactics videos I’ve seen, WotC told them they were allowed to discuss the book’s contents but were warned not to show the book’s pages. Was this warning not sent out to all the YouTubers?

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

And I can’t say something positive about the 2024 rulebooks or any of the post-Tasha’s books without people disagreeing with me or insisting that the rule change I like is actually a sign the game is being ruined. I seem to recall you doing this often. People have different opinions and you’re...

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

Yeah, but that’s not how they were in 5e. I would enjoy that too, but I still prefer the catch all Rend over the previous system’s implementation.

D&D 5E (2024) 2025's Ancient Green Dragon Stat Block From The New Monster Manual

I personally like the move away from separate attacks that just deal different types of physical damage. It opens up space for more interesting actions/attacks and as a DM I can easily say “this rend is using its tail, so it deals bludgeoning damage instead of piercing.” Coming up with fun...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Sure. That is absolutely not true. The internet is practically fueled by outrage and negativity.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D 2024 Player's Handbook Reviews

Chris Perkins was passionate about Spelljammer. Jeremy Crawford has appeared very passionate about the rule updates in all of his recent videos about the 2024 core books. I’m sure the people working on Planescape, Dragonlance, and the recent adventure compilations were passionate about their...

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

Do you seriously have to harp about how much you hate current D&D lore in every thread like this? Why is your first reaction to me saying “I like this lore change, I think it fits better,” “I think this sucks, clearly WotC is removing all our precious slavery lore, and I’m sure you like that.”...

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

I’m glad they removed the lore of them being former Mind Flayer slaves. We already have enough of those in D&D. Their backstory lore is now more similar to Aboleths than Gith/Duergar/Grimlocks/Derro, which I think makes sense.
