    D&D 5E (2024) New Jeremy Crawford Interviews

The Dungeon Dudes' interview with Crawford was great. I haven't watched the other videos. While I have been disappointed by some of the changes and largely didn't think it went far enough to fix the game's problems, I am still interested in seeing some of the updates, especially the variety of...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D species article

The reason why the Fairy is small isn’t to “leave things open for a tiny fey later.” It’s for the same reason why none of the big races (Minotaurs, Centaurs, Goliaths, Firbolg) are Large even if it would make sense for them to be/their monster equivalents are Large. It’s because 5e is not...

D&D General World Building and Magic

I have never had this problem. I tend to have NPCs react to magic and spellcasters in ways I think make sense for their culture/society/religion. It varies between setting, but I use the general rule that most magic is seen as a powerful weapon or tool, but there are taboo types (enchantment and...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D species article

On the subject of half-species, I was glad to see them removed as full races, just because I felt that only supporting Half-Elves and Half-Orcs, and not any of the other potential hybrids (Half-Dwarves, Gnomes, Halflings, etc) was weird and opened up too many questions. To me the “you can be...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D species article

I am disappointed by most of the changes to the races. I thought that the UA was a promising start, but wanted them to do more. Wizards of the Coast has a strange habit of creating cool new systems for mechanics and then either forgetting about them a couple books down the line (lineages...

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

This is the internet, so I’m sure most of you are familiar with the Narcissist’s Prayer: While this scenario is a bit different (Gygax isn’t using these excuses, his supporters are), I can’t help but see the similarities in how the “pro-Gygax” side is arguing. It started out with Robert...

Spoilers The boys Season 4 (spoilers)

Excellent finale. While this season had some great episodes, it did feel weaker overall compared to the last season. The last 2 episodes really helped the overall season and I’m looking forward to the story rapping up in the next season and Gen V season 2.

D&D General Dragons of Chaos and Law in Mythology?

Apep/Apophis from Egyptian mythology is a giant snake, embodiment of chaos, and nemesis of Ra.

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

The point is to legitimize bigotry. That is all the “pro-Gygax” side is trying to do. To retroactively rewrite Gygax’s bigotry as “not so bad” because more people were openly sexist in the 70s.

D&D Historian Benn Riggs On Gary Gygax & Sexism

Yeah, this thread is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be. They’re not trying very hard to hide their bigotry. There’s a group of people on this site that always rush to defend racists, sexists, transphobes, and other bigots whenever topics like this come up. Of the defenders of Gygax in...

D&D 5E (2024) WotC has called the new ruleset 5.2. Why don't we?

To add to this, the 2014 SRD was called 5.1 No one has ever called the 2014 rules 5.1e D&D. That’s silly. IMO, calling the 2024 rules 5.2e is equally silly.

D&D 5E (2024) Which Setting Featured Already in 5E Do You Want a New Supplement For?

I would love an adventure compilation book for Eberron, similar to the Saltmarsh/Candlekeep/Radiant Citadel line of books. Low level noir adventures in Sharn, mid-level pulp adventures in Xen’drik, and high-level Doom-esque adventures in Khyber and the planes.

D&D 5E (2024) GREYHAWKCONFIRMED! Reflections on Greyhawk in the DMG

I’m not really that familiar with Greyhawk. Most of the information I do know about it is the basic stuff that’s bled into other settings (the Great Wheel, Vecna and Mordenkainen, some of the gods, etc). And I’m not really interested in it. I already have enough settings that I enjoy. But from...

D&D 5E (2024) PHB 2024 Creature Reveal: Sphinx of Wonder

I’m glad Sphinxes are Celestials. When I first bought the Monster Manual and read the Sphinx stat blocks I found it mind-boggling that they weren’t Celestials. I hope there are more creature type fixes like that. (Guardian Nagas should also be Celestials, IMO, with Spirit Nagas being Fiends.)

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

No. It's your attitude towards newer art styles that's offensive, which bleeds into whichever terminology you would use. A euphemism that is used the same way as a purposefully offensive term expresses the same meaning. I reject the premise that older D&D art was uniformly "serious, tough...

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Because it's a common term that you and people who agree with you use to disparage the newer trend in D&D art and people that enjoy it. You have used it before. Whether or not you were the first to mention it in this thread is irrelevant.

    D&D 5E (2024) 2024 Player's Handbook Reveal #1: "Everything You Need To Know!"

Posting Bambi surely counts. And you've used that term before for newer D&D art.

D&D General Coinage as Dragon Scales

I talked about my version of this in this thread. In one of my settings, Giants use Dragon scales as currency. The older the dragon, the higher the value of the scale. Scale color doesn't really matter in this system, though.

    D&D 5E (2024) What's the future of Xanathar and Tasha? (+)

I don't think that WotC is going to stop printing Xanathar's or Tasha's and reprint them with updated rules. Or heavily errata them to update the rules to the new design philosophy. It is possible that older subclasses could be reprinted in future books (setting guides they'd fit in, Xanathar's...
