Waterdeep: Dragon Heist - Posssible to use all four villains?

I think it is possible but you have to have a lot of flowcharts around how each villain will react to possible PC actions. For my game, I'm doing as much as I can to throw in so many different actors. 1. The Lords of Waterdeep. The module really doesn't talk much about what they would be doing...

Is The Expanse RPG becoming vaporware?

This is why I pretty much avoid Kickstarter software projects. Too many things can go wrong.

Is The Expanse RPG becoming vaporware?

I hope it eventually comes out because I'd love to raid it for my GURPS Expanse game.

Best Fleshed Out Cities for use with fantasy TTRPG

If you are looking for good city books, Tredroy for GURPS is great because it has a good 3 empires meeting at one city theme that makes it an exciting adventure location.

AD&D 1E 5e Play, 1e Play, and the Immersive Experience

Interesting. I've played so many different systems that I love looking for the right system for the game I want to run. And when I mean game I want to run, I mean the both the mechanics and the feeling of adventure. D&D has always been a rough system for me even though I started with it back...

Best Fleshed Out Cities for use with fantasy TTRPG

I will second the Flying Buffalo City Books. Looks like there are seven. I think I have all but 2. I enjoy them as maps and people and hooks to drop into different locations.

    Spellcasting Feats

I would consider all of these way too powerful for a feat. Spell Fury turns every attack spell into an area of effect:Line spell. And increases spell stat Consider how powerful it would be to turn every arrow attack into this. Spell Surge adds area effect to single target spells. Dominate...

Do you believe we are alone in the universe?

I think there is intelligent life out there but the is a Great Filter that is doing something to make it either harder to communicate or removing civilizations. David Brin's novels Earth and Existence had some suggestions that alien civilizations do not want the competition. I think...

"Realistic" Waterdeep adventuring with 9th-10th party

My low level party is having enough trouble dealing with adventures and not committing crimes in Waterdeep that would get them exiles or imprisoned (if not killed) by the justice system. If they start killing guards, then they will have trouble. But having them face human minions they cannot...

Burning Questions: How Can I Add Ambience to D&D Sessions?

Honestly, I've tried background music and I just find it a distraction from hearing other players. I agree it can bring a good amount of atmosphere but it never worked for me.

    Scary situations that aren't

I do this occasionally enough that my players will sometimes make sure some NPCs are dead before moving on to the next enemy. Or having the shaman heal enemies behind the lines. That's a fun one too.

Maybe my expectation was off - Dungeon of the mad mage doesnt use the full maps for undermountain....

I'm probably going to use as many of the full maps I can (I have some of the older products) and do a big map. I'm not happy with what was done with the level 1 layout. If there was a group taxing adventures, I cannot see them surviving very long as each adventuring team would tell the next...

Designing Adventures with Lethality in Mind (Kobayashi Maru)- the Poll!

I generally do not shy away from creating set encounters or using random encounters that can TPK. It just is really hard to kill characters in 5th edition. It can be done but my players work well together and usually can squeak by pretty well. And they are able to plan to disengage if...

    Scaling for a large group

I also recommend giving every enemy NPC max hit points. Large groups of players can focus fire and bring down enemies quickly. I find with 8 or more players to both increase the number of enemies and max out hit points. More enemies is usually better than increasing CR but YMMV. I make sure...

    A gelatinous Cube and a 10-feet corridor ...

I would rule that there is no problem for the wizard and fighter to share the space for the time until one of them has a new turn. They are sharing a space at the end of someone else's turn which is fine.

    Forge of Fury

You probably want to make sure the Forge is near enough to Waterdeep that it makes sense to go there to sell the loot. Perhaps something they find leads them to Waterdeep to finish a side quest.

Princes of the Apocalypse or Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil?

I sort of merged the two. I placed the elemental temples into the volcano which made it interesting for the players to play the different temples off each other. Unfortunately people moved away and the campaign fell apart before they got into the center.

Main Difficulties in Hosting Local Games (GMs)?

My other, is that I don't have a problem. I've got a semi-public venue at my church. Because it's a my church I open it up to everyone. I rarely have less than 10 interested players and we play at a set time so the attendance varies from 4 to 10 players.
