Pathfinder Online Layoffs; Ryan Dancey Leaves Company

Ditto and ditto and yup. Perhaps that's a side note to this that's not getting any attention: the setting for the MMO is good. Thornkeep is interesting and could make for a solid homebase for a new campaign, or a good place to plug into an existing one. The levels beneath the town are worth...

Pathfinder Online Layoffs; Ryan Dancey Leaves Company

I took part in the Kickstarter way back when because I was then a tabletop PF player, and while not a computer gamer was interested in seeing PF stories and setting 'ported online. I am happy with the paperkback Thornkeep book I received, and the other books and such, and suppose I'll use them...

    RPG Design & Arduous Research

Perhaps then I'll have to do some research to find out how much all the anti-ghost equipment would run!

    RPG Design & Arduous Research

Ummm...that seems like a lot of work. I do wonder how much use players and GMs will get out of it. Although the fact that you included Ecto-1 and the A-Team Van is cool. I'm not so sure about the multiple Herbies, though. And something else: are you factoring the cost of the proprietary...

CITY OF BRASS Launches, Bringing You Web-Based Campaign Management

I've used the Obdisian Portal for over 7 years, and have been generally happy with it. I've become increasingly concerned over it since the Kickstarter and the tech and communication problems on their end, and so CoB is interesting to me as a possible replacement. My biggest question, which I...

Out of the Abyss: Longer Description and pre-order price reduction

I know - I was referring to RoT implicitly in my use of word "sequel." :)

Out of the Abyss: Longer Description and pre-order price reduction

I'm looking forward to it. Hoard of the Dragon Queen and its sequel are good, I think, and I'm even more optimistic for this one. I like the long level arc that it offers, too.

Out of the Abyss: Longer Description and pre-order price reduction

"Stop the madness!" Ha...crazy diet craze lady from the 90s used to say that.

Regarding the Mass Effect ENnies Nomination

I have no idea what Mass Effect is (I don't play video games), but I'm more likely to buy something someday with "Don Mappin" as writer or creator because of how gracefully and professionally he handled this. And Don, I already have your LUGTrek Player's Guide, so since you're a ST author you...

Regarding the Mass Effect ENnies Nomination

Agreed: good call. Not all situations can be anticipated, and have systems developed in advance to deal with them, and so often the best one can do is muddle through, thoughtfully, with an eye toward dealing with it in a manner that sets up a means by which to preclude the same from happening in...

The Guardian on Reading RPGs: Why don’t RPG manuals count as books?

They do count as books. Consider that rulebooks are really just a form of functional text - that is, they seek to instruct and explain a process..."how to." Sourcebooks are fiction with aspects of functional text if there are special rules. I've kept a reading log since 2005, in which I list...

    Catching Up With PATHFINDER ONLINE

I backed the KS, as well, primarily because at that point I was very much a PF player and I wanted the paper copy of the book - thought that was pretty neat. I still think the idea of putting their expansive and detailed world online is a good one. That said, I puttered with the system, having...

    TITANSGRAVE Launches!

I don't think promoting a project or product on which you've worked is self-promotion - I think it'd be more appropriately dubbed "an attempt at commerce or sales," with which there is nothing wrong. I've played Dragon Age once, for a short session, and so this series might help me see how AGE...

    TITANSGRAVE Launches!

Good points by Cam and Morrus. I think the limitations of the format - basically a TV show - require that there be some positive direction and guidance from the GM throughout each session, lest the team risk getting lost shopping for magic items (we've all had that dreadful session, haven't...

    TITANSGRAVE Launches!

For those who've watched either or both chapters, what did you think? I watched both last night and thought that Wil did a nice job of presenting the typical 'what's an RPG?' segment as well as the rules. I liked how dice rolls were handled in Chapter 1, making it clear to the audience what was...

Unearthed Arcana Unearthed Arcana: Variant Rules

Interesting. There's no way to please everybody, however it's interesting to see that virtually all the comments on this UA are, if not negative, definitely not positive. No author will pump out work of equal quality over time, and I've liked previous UAs...but I'm with the majority here: this...

Any idea about what's happening at the Obsidian Portal?

Funny..I clicked the link and got 502 Bad Gateway several times before it finally loaded.

Any idea about what's happening at the Obsidian Portal?

Yep - did that, too. In fact, the largest/longest of our campaigns ended up producing, after I removed all the images (including PC avatars), a 482-page Word document. That includes all the Adventure Log posts, all the Player Secrets, and all the comments.

Any idea about what's happening at the Obsidian Portal?

I've downloaded them all, actually. One big problem with the export function is that the product - so far as I can tell - lacks the comments on the Adventure Log posts, which really guts the story because it only retains the text of the post itself. it's better than nothing, but it's something.

Any idea about what's happening at the Obsidian Portal?

Perhaps this isn't the best place to ask this very general question, but since the community forums at the OP itself are full of the same question, I figured I'd ask it here, too. Since the OP's KS-supported 'Reforging' a few years ago their responsiveness to problems and requests has slowed to...
