Is this the world's best D&D gaming room?

Good point. However, would this bathroom be decorative or fantasy-realistic? I could see it being one of two types: decorative squishy vinyl toilet seat with a dragon on the cover and the seat itself decorated with the runes from the One Ring; a gilded mirror; towels with ampersand...

Clearly, this guy does not have enough boxed sets.

The Biggest RPG Story of the Year?

Dahak: SEE! I told you that I don't know diddly about computer/console games!

The Biggest RPG Story of the Year?

Computer/video games...I'd not thought of that. Not being a player of those at all I'm not in a position to posit...how about the rest of you? Actually, that could be big - a big, popular online or console property translated to a PnP tabletop system. That actually sounds interesting.

The Biggest RPG Story of the Year?

Morrus: good point, and nice evidence to support it. Let's continue this thought exercise. Harry Potter? Lankhmar? I'd put the former on an 'A' list and the latter on a 'C' list - not because of quality, but because of name recognition & popularity. Grognards and others would recognize Leiber's...

The Biggest RPG Story of the Year?

AGE/Dragon Age is not d20 at all - I played it once at a local gaming day and it was easy & interesting. I've toyed with the idea of picking up DA many times over the years but was always invested more in other systems. Still, it was a fun and unique system that flowed well and made for a good...

    9 New D&D 5E Fan-Created Resources!

I'm in the process of brainstorming my next campaign and that article was like a bolt of creative lightning. Of course, that means it blew up some of what I'd already created, but so be it - the ideas are flowing now.

    9 New D&D 5E Fan-Created Resources!

Just read Charles Atkins' write-up about basing a campaign in a setting more akin to Colonial America than a developed Europe analogue. What a great, fresh idea. I highly recommend reading it if you're interested in world/campaign building.

Covers Preview for Elemental Evil Adventurer's Handbook and Princes of the Apocalypse!

Amen. I will not go around tearing at my clothes and covering myself in ash & dirt over a company trying to make a profit...profit that will enable said company to continue producing this game. No one will force anyone to buy any of these books, folks. You may now go back to your wailing and...

Covers Preview for Elemental Evil Adventurer's Handbook and Princes of the Apocalypse!

Sadly, good point on Ancient and Esoteric Knowledge Known Only to Grognards (AEKKOG). I have the old White Box with all the extra books still...never owned the Greyhawk boxed set, and have been playing DnD since before 1e was called 1e...and to be honest I can't tell you what made Greyhawk...

Covers Preview for Elemental Evil Adventurer's Handbook and Princes of the Apocalypse!

Well said, Dire Bear. Those settings you mentioned are all pretty generic Western Europe-based fantasy worlds. Let's accept that and move along. Eberron is quite different, and even it doesn't escape m'lords and m'ladies and whatnot. I've never played Spelljammer, Dark Sun, or Ravenloft - and...

Covers Preview for Elemental Evil Adventurer's Handbook and Princes of the Apocalypse!

Did you know that you can just put these - or any! - adventures in any world you'd like? Seriously. You can. The WOTC folks won't ever know... On a serious note, FR bores me, but good adventures with dragons and cults and evil and temples fit anywhere for the DM who puts in a little time to...
