    D&D 5E (2014) WotC's Jeremy Crawford on D&D Races Going Forward

Good ideas. I do find no small amount of humor when people assert that "species like orcs and humans can't interbreed," when, at the foundation, we're talking about things that are entirely made up in the first place.

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC's Jeremy Crawford on D&D Races Going Forward

How about "species"? The notion of 'race' is a construct, anyway, and within actual humanity means nothing beyond appearance (that is, it's not tied to behavior or moral or intellectual capacity, like 19th Century 'racialists' believed). And for blended species, like half-whatever, it's easy: a...

Best Paizo AP to convert to 5e?

You bet. Here's the link to the guy's site where I found it. When you download or copy it from his Google Drive you'll need to delete the variables he entered, and make some changes to the formulas to use it with 5e...change the Control DC to 15+(variables) instead of 20+, for example.

Best Paizo AP to convert to 5e?

I am running Kingmaker right now for 5e and it's going really well. I'm doing the conversions myself, of course, and the first book went smoothly, given that the challenges, monsters, and foes are all in existing 5e material or easily produced from the same. We just started the second book, and...

Cyberpunk Red & Stargate Both Delayed

I picked up the "Jumpstart" box and I'm optimistic. I played CP2020 to death years ago, and I'm well-versed in the tone and the background story. The setting changes - that is, the addition of decades of new history - since 2020 are interesting and make sense. The changes to the Net are...

Free League Announces Twilight: 2000 4th Edition

I am of two minds about this. I have Forbidden Lands and Alien, and have played MY0. Aliens is the most remarkable of the three, but overall the system, after a session or a few, tends to model the same feel regardless of the world. The mechanics are simple, but through simplicity and...

Kids on Brooms: Potteresque RPG From The Makers of Kids on Bikes

I've played KoB once and enjoyed it. I could see these rules being a good fit for running a Nothogwarts-based story.

When Pandemic Isn't Just a Game

...saw a meme that said something along the lines of "no sports...social contact discouraged...all interactions moved online...sounds like a geek's safe space." Who's with me on the gallows humor? And that aside, I am a member of a FB Eberron community in which a number of members are trying...

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Good point. Then I will hope for the best and let others wander into the minefield and test that out first.

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Glad to see the IP will not disappear from the RPG world, but I'm going to be the contrarian here. The Year Zero engine is decent for some things, but feels pretty vanilla after some play. I've played Mutant Year Zero and Alien, and have read and worked on some materials for a Forbidden Lands...

I backed PF's online game years ago...didn't turn out so well at all. I hope they deliver a better product this time, but I'm keeping my money.

Explore Far Distant Worlds in the Traveller Core Rulebook

MGT2e is the best version of the rules, I believe. I first played using the Little Black Books and "The Traveller Book," and did that for a while a long time ago. I played Traveller: The New Era, which featured a radically different, new timeline and system; and while I liked the setting the...

Want To Playtest The Fallout RPG?

I agree with you on the system completely. As for Fallout...no idea! I had a copy that I played, briefly, on a Win95, and I don't remember a thing about the IP, outside of it being post-apocalyptic and that it had some 50s kitsch in it.

Want To Playtest The Fallout RPG?

The system is odd for olde tyme d20 players, and in fact I got the Star Trek play test materials and was confused by it - to the point that I didn't end up participating, which was frustrating because I'm a big ST fan. Anyway, a guy I know ran the Free RPG Day scenario for their Conan game, so I...
