He is correct - my mistake!

Want To Playtest The Fallout RPG?

They're completely different systems, mechanically. The core role in 2d20 is this: you roll two d20s and try to meet or beat (high is always best) your Target Number, which is the sum of a skill and a governing trait. For example, in Conan, you'd use use your Melee skill to club someone. That...

Want To Playtest The Fallout RPG?

Signed up when I got the notice by email. I'm a fan of 2d20, having enjoyed it with Star Trek, Conan, and a home-brew. I'm interested in seeing what they do with this property, and Dune, too. I hope I'm selected.

    New Year, New Campaign

...starting an Eberron campaign, fittingly in Sharn. I'm updating the Forgotten Forge from the original ECS to 5e, and then stepping into Shadows of the Last War from 3.5, and perhaps the other adventures in that series. None of my players have spent any time in Eberron before now, and they want...

    D&D General 2010: A Turning Point for D&D

Interesting events, but I see no causal connection between them and the state of DnD today.

D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian, Why Do You Rage?

I think this is a really good question, and one that tugs at the balance of game vs. story in DnD. When I first read it, I thought about how there are so many class abilities that, without a reason within the story, are just mechanical means to flex muscle, sometimes figuratively, sometimes more...

Space is Not the Only Thing Trying to Kill You in the Alien RPG

I've got white background character and ship sheets if you want them.

Space is Not the Only Thing Trying to Kill You in the Alien RPG

The space combat section is under 20 pages, and is in keeping with the story over mechanics vibe of the game. It's comparable to how the new Star Wars or Star Trek RPG handle space combat, with actions for each player and, in Alien, the expectation that you'll use some kind of representation of...

Space is Not the Only Thing Trying to Kill You in the Alien RPG

Play Chariots of the Gods...either run it or have someone run you through it. Things went sideways at the right moment, and an appropriate amount of stuff hit the fan. NPCs and PCs died horribly, and people got screwed over, and a good time was had by all. Both times I ran it we all came away...

Space is Not the Only Thing Trying to Kill You in the Alien RPG

I bought into the presale and have the book, screen, dice, and map already. I've run the intro scenario, "Chariot of the Gods," twice, and although experienced different outcomes, both groups experienced a lot of death, surprise, and turn-on-a-dime challenges that changed the focus and tempo of...

    D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War - A Review

I agree. I think pulling the levels of Marks guts a significant amount of the flavor and variety of them. I'm working on some Feats to fill the gap - that is, resurrecting the Lesser and Greater marks, and leaving those in the book as the Least.

Robotech: The Macross Saga RPG Review

I downloaded and am reading it - they've done a good job of making sense of the rules. At least, so far in what I've read.

Robotech: The Macross Saga RPG Review

Better yet, can you annoy everyone at the table by playing Minmei? I remember wishing an awful fate on her whenever she opened her mouth...

Robotech: The Macross Saga RPG Review

Thank you. Do you have any YT videos you'd recommend of actual play? I have always been a fan of Robotech, and played the Palladium version years ago before I realized that the rules were no good. This new version interests me, but I've no experience with Forged in the Dark, and there are so...

Robotech: The Macross Saga RPG Review

I think the verdict is in: the readers want details and evidence, not just subjective conclusions. Bring it! We'd happily read it (I would, at least).

Robotech: The Macross Saga RPG Review

Could you share some details avoid how the mechanics work? You provided your conclusions and reflections, but little in the way of the details that led you to them. I would appreciate those. Also, how long is the book? How much is set aside for rules, for fluff? How well is it organized? Those...

Scary Games to Play in the Dark

Thanks for the well-written, clear, and interesting article. Although I do not remember ever hearing of those books, I remember reading lots about ghosts and such when I was growing up...in the 80s. It seems that a lot of the backdrop to my childhood stories, and the impact they had on my RPG...

D&D 5E (2014) Eberron: Rising from the Last War Coming For D&D In November

The cover's pretty lame...what's why Pikachu's little brother on her shoulder? But I won't buy it for the cover - I'll get it because Eberron is the best, most original DnD setting. I didn't like the mechanical changes for 4e, and didn't keep any of those books, but I have all the 3x volumes...
