    Old Gods of Appalachia

A quick google lists 12 Appalachian states (based on who knows what criteria) including New York. Should we be up in arms about he Empire State as well? IĎK. Perhaps the issue is being overthought.

    Old Gods of Appalachia

Does any of the story take place in North Georgia? If not then it doesn't really need to be there out of some sense of completeness. You can only have so much in any one book and the focus is going to be on the locations from the podcast.

    Old Gods of Appalachia

My expectation not to use the included system seems to be borne out nicely. I might use PbtA of some sort.

    Old Gods of Appalachia

I absolutely love the podcast and am waiting for my books with baited breath, but I'm going to ne help with the mechanical Cypher stuff. I backed the KS despite the mechanical engine, not because of it. I'm not sure what system I want to use to run games of OGoA but I'm excited to figure it out.

Giving Call of Cthulhu a shot, any advice?

Yeah, CoC is way more fun when you lean into the insanity rules rather than resisting them. Resistance is futile anyway.

Giving Call of Cthulhu a shot, any advice?

If you haven't run investigative games before they can be tricky to balance. As mentioned above, don't gate every clue behind a skill check. I would recommend putting lots of information in the heads of NPCs. NPCs can be relocated without resorted to illusionism and can just come out and tell...

    Your Go To Tropes

Hmm, I have a bunch. The wilderness wants to kill you - no boring travel in my games. Secret horrible cults in places you wouldn't expect Books - books of magic, books of history, reliable books, unreliable books, lots of books Wee little pocket kingdoms and baronies instead of huge sprawling...

When Your Injury System Feels Too Complex

A list of skills by stat would allow a simple range of negatives to those skills with an associated injury. If I were you I wpuld probably look for ways to compress that system though. I think there's a lot of mechanic there if injury tracking isn't supposed to be a key feature of play.

    Why do RPGs have rules?

Are you suggesting that narrativist players aren't interacting with the game world at least primarily through the avatar of their character? That's ... a pretty extreme claim. It sounds like you think that some sort of meta game concerns are more central to narrativist play than the characters.

    Why do RPGs have rules?

I think people are may be missing the hermeneutic nature of the endeavor here. We are 'reading' or critiquing texts and questions of authorial intent based on a set of somewhat shaky interpretive tools. This not a science or better yet math where one gets to enjoy stable definitions and strict...
