Let me get on my soapbox. D&D owes a huge debt to westerns. Real medieval villages didn't have a general store and a tavern. Everyone was serfs, beholden to a lord. Armed strangers couldn't ride into town and get up to shenanigans. The way we play D&D is a western disguised as medieval Europe.
