    D&D 5E (2014) Killing a Teammate

Hey I just got this idea that might work. Why not try and be a DM? Seriously dude, why is this something you bring to the boards to ask about? Should I have one player not play for 10 sessions? Really? If you have to come here and ask that please, save that player and no don't let him, he will...

D&D 5E (2014) Levels of literary heroes (and inflation thereof)

Dang it, this is enough to make me start hunting down youth coach's to drop into a Sarlacc!

D&D 5E (2014) Levels of literary heroes (and inflation thereof)

Wait wait Wait! You raised two adult or near adult teens, told them not only what to do with every hour of there day(I was going to go talk to Bigs,No you have water to suck out of the air) but told them what career they were going to pursue and they were ok with that and didn't whine very...

D&D 5E (2014) What PC does Huge DPS in your party ?

The balance between characters and monsters in this edition is out of whack slightly in favor of the pc's. The issue normally is this: DM's mostly shove things further out of whack by letting pc's start with heroic stats(either rolled or higher point buy) and use optional rules like feats(that...

D&D 5E (2014) Levels of literary heroes (and inflation thereof)

Well Conan was in a LOT of stories. A LOT of them. He at least made it to name level and became a King even if you discount the Gods he slew as not really being Gods in the D&D version of them. Just on the sheer amount of enemies he slew he reached name level if you use Basic D&D as a guideline...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is Conan in 5e?

No. See Conan was a character created for a DM who ran low a low magic game. No clerics at all and Wizards were pretty dang limited on spells. Only humans for pc race though he did go a little nuts with the different types of humans. I'll fill you in on a little secret, just between you and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Weak 5e monsters

Go by eight encounters between long rests and don't use feats. Do these two things and then take another look at it. If you go under the eight encounter guideline the group fights become more trivial the lower you go. Feats break the game rules in the pc's favor and are mostly combat...

D&D 5E (2014) Who are the famous characters of D&D

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2014/085/e/7/warduke_from_dungeons_and_dragons_by_massimoatlas-d7boxpl.jpg WARDUKE! Really all other Characters like Zit Do'Urdun and Elmuncher are just posers.

    D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian troubles

I'll second the 15 min combat encounters. If it's the BIG BADDY of the entire adventure I could see it clocking all the way up to 30 min but kinda doubt it. Hours and hours for a 5E encounter? Crazy! I seriously can't think of one fight from any of the adventure paths or my homemade stuff...

    D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian troubles

I find that strange and weird. I as the DM have almost total control of when the party can get a rest in. How can it be rare that a DM doesn't? My personal method is to use random encounters both in the wilds and in dungeons. I roll on those encounter tables(that vary wildly in CR both low and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Barbarian troubles

Ok, Gameogre to the rescue! First off, rolled stats are a bad idea. Rolled stats are a give the DM issues off the bat option. Don't use rolled stats. Second off go reread the Barbarian, Trust me, my favorite class in the game is Barbarian but they are NOT overpowered. There are HUGE LIMITS on...

D&D 5E (2014) Ditching concentration - did you do it?

I ditched it. At first it was you could keep multiple concentration spells going based on level, the higher level the more you could do. Eventually I just tossed it. Sure it effected my game in minor ways. It's better to be a caster now than it was before but the players still mostly do not...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiamat's Hoard of the Elemental Abyss?

Anyone thought about how to mix all the adventure paths together into one smorgasbord of D&D goodness? It's seems like it might be doable if you take the exp off the rails and refluff a lot of content. Something like the Cult of Tiamat taking the lead to bring her back and either working with...

D&D 5E (2014) Future format of books that mimic SCAG: Will you buy them?

Just looking at the numbers it seems most people are fairly happy with what they bought and will buy so again.

D&D 5E (2014) How many adventurers are in your world?

I'm picturing a adventuring band waking up one late fall morning to find the small tent and wooden village that sprung up last spring when they first discovered The Caves of Chaos empty. The last of the wagonloads of people heading off back towards civilization laughing and singing in the distance.

    D&D 5E (2014) What If?

I like it. Now how to combine that with good smiths being rare so the party has to travel WAAAAAY out to another kingdom to get a blade made by Wayland the smith! God now I'm thinking perhaps the idea would work best as not a skill thing but a class thing. A type of artificer smith class.

    D&D 5E (2014) What If?

Probably link it to your level prof bonus somehow then. I'm not too sure how since there is a difference in numbers. Also at high levels the bonus's could get unbalancing. It needs to be something simple but at the same time allows you to tinker with weapons and armor ect.. in a meaningful way.

    D&D 5E (2014) What If?

So your take on 5E is that there shouldn't be any house rules and if people want to mess around with the rules(you know like EVERY other rpg game or edition EVER) they should go play something else. Got it. Thanks for your input. It sure was thought provoking. Now where were we? Anyone use...

    D&D 5E (2014) What If?

I love this idea! I think the idea of a give and take works fine. You will want to be careful so you don't make a clear winner in the weapons war but.....it's doable. I also like the idea of going further with it and adding in magic. Like in Diablo (the err video game) you can add magical gems...
