D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

Another thing is that I think the data that gets released is from those people who have purchased access to all character options. If that's the case it isn't even representative of all D&DBeyond players let alone all D&D players in general. So the proportion of halflings players is likely...

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

I must be completely mistaken about the point of this particular discussion. I thought the gnoll raider/halfling slinger discussion was about how to make the halfling culture distinct in a way that makes sense within the fiction. Are you saying it's really about a game scenario that would be...

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

When you try to apply the game rules to anything beyond the PCs you get completely ridiculous results that don't at all match the fiction. The rules are to play a game, not simulate a world.

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

Why are you using the regular game mechanics to evaluate a large scale NPC vs NPC battle?

D&D General My Problem(s) With Halflings, and How To Create Engaging/Interesting Fantasy Races

Your argument is that because no one has justified their opinion to your satisfaction that means you're right. This is not only an unreasonable standard for others to abide by (because if you insist on being the sole arbiter of right and wrong then you can always declare yourself right...

    D&D General Progressive Spells?

Requiring a PC to pick x spell before they are allowed to select y spell is a restriction.

    D&D 5E (2014) 40% of 5e D&D players are 25 years old or younger

So is 40% high, low, or normal? What was it probably at 10 years ago? 20 years ago? 30 years ago?

D&D General On Skilled Play: D&D as a Game

What is this "neotraditional playstyle" people keep mentioning? I had never seen the term until the last few weeks.

D&D General If the Alignment system itself had an Alignment, what Alignment would it be?

What is the intended way to use alignment? Are you talking 5e or in general?

D&D General On Skilled Play: D&D as a Game

So this discussion relates to something very fundamental about RPGs that is different than most traditional games. Playing an RPG is like when an adult plays around with a small child, such as when they wrestle or chase each other. When you do so you can easily "win" versus the little kid, so if...

D&D General On Skilled Play: D&D as a Game

Wow. Not only was someone arguing about the number of days in a week, but what's really hilarious is that after the guy left the thread there was an absolutely furious, vicious, nasty argument about if working out every other day means you workout 3.5 times per week. "It averages out to 3.5...

Ok, I just wanted to be clear I wasn't missing something before I post my thoughts on the discussion your comments sparked.

D&D 5E (2014) On rulings, rules, and Twitter, or: How Sage Advice Changed

I read the rule as allowing the shove before the attack and my reasoning had nothing to do with its effectiveness, only the way the rule was written. And Jeremy Crawford originally ruled that way, too! So it's unfair to claim that the only reason people read the rule that way is because they...

D&D Movie/TV Hugh Grant To Play Villain in the D&D Movie

Wolfram is right, the earlier D&D movies will have zero impact on this one. The general population certainly isn't aware of them let alone have such a horribly negative opinion that they won't watch the new one despite having far higher production and casting standards. I wouldn't even know that...

WotC D&D Gets A New Division At Hasbro

I'm not clear about what this change entails (I can't read the whole article). Is it simply a matter of having WOTC handle all the digital stuff, or is something more going on? How does this effect D&D?
