D&D 5E (2014) The 600-page Aegis of Empires Adventure Path Kickstarter - 300% funded and FREE bonus adventures!

It would be good to know If you go Drivethru then postage is much lower for Int backers Atm, the $30 postage pops up in your KS if you try and back a physical reward. Is this deliberate?

D&D General Best "out of the box" ready to run adventures/modules?

homework yes - but my game I believe was so much better for it. It was a labour of love - but a very enjoyable one.

D&D General Best "out of the box" ready to run adventures/modules?

I was also aided listening to the excellent podcasts by Red Moon Roleplaying on the CoS too. Running games today is so much easier than ever! So many extra sources of help and inspiration out there if you look/ dig.

D&D General Best "out of the box" ready to run adventures/modules?

FoF is a nice dungeon bash. I mashed it together with Halls of the Dwarven Kings for an Adventures in Middle Earth setting The Greydelve in the Darkening of Mirkwood. But it works very well out of the can. Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan..... running that now. There is another thread of TftYP, and...

D&D General Digital Maps for Roll20

Fantastic news. Have signed up though admittedly to the basic tier. Other ones off the top of my head: Ruins eg village Castles/ ruined castles Dwarf mine Ravine Swamp... But looking forward to anything. Esp caves and Underdark lairs etc. In this crazy time, great to find a good source of...

    D&D General Alignment in D&D

Nice post Jonathan. You're right that alignment is driven down deep into the DNA of D&D. Planescape as a setting best exemplifies this point. However, Keith Baker's innovative setting Eberron avoids the traditional Law-Chaos tropes and instead presents us with shades of grey and uncertainty...

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

Ran it waaay back when it was published. 1996ish? Had a real blast

100% agree. I had a great blast with it. Still own all of it. May use it again one day! 👍🏻

And the sandbox nature of Phandelver echoes earlier AD&D products such as Book/ Act 1 in the epic Night Below.

D&D General Digital Maps for Roll20

Thanks for all of these - they are brilliant and given the current state we are in - Roll20 is now in weekly use by my gang- these maps will really improve our experience as gamers. Do you have a patreon account? If so, please share/ reshare! Thanks again Ben

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

Yet 5e has been incredibly successful. Mearls was not having to rework/ make work Bill's baby - but could start afresh.

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

My gang tried - and hated 4e - when it came out in 2008. Gave it a year then switched to Pathfinder for fantasy fare - along with WFRP - as well as other games (CoC, Deadlands etc). I was only a distant observer as to what was happening at the time. Reading between the lines, I thought then/...

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

Whoa - I just said my memory was wrong on when he joined D&D - and yes - he was there from the start -but not as the boss - and when he got Bill's job, as far as I am concerned, he did turn things around since he moved to get the process of 5e out the door - and under his direction this has...

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

I stand corrected! 👍🏻🤪 memory failure. He was not the lead designer though. 4e was Bill Slavicsek's baby. Under him were Rob Heinsoo, Andy Collins and James Wyatt. Then Mearls was in the team working with/ making happen their ideas from what I understood. Then Mearls got Bill's job about 2010...

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

He was brought it to try and fix 4e. Under his leadership I believe the 4e Essentials line emerged (4.5e?). And whilst he was engaged with that, 5e was brewing. WotC and Mearls knew that 4e had screwed their market share.

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

I sincerely hope he is having a blast. Iron Heroes was a refreshing iteration of 3rd edition rules and I was excited when he got recruited to D&D. I knew he would turn things around. 🍻🍻🍻

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

Indeed. Mike Mearls has done an incredible job at pulling D&D back from the brink to the pack leader of the RPG hobby. His vision has returned me to the fold (from Pathfinder heresy) & and made D&D far more fun. I suspect but have no insider knowledge that he is working on a secret project. I...
