D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

And this is the other answer that we usually get. "Stop ignoring older gamers!" "How are they doing that?" "By shifting away from older gamers!" When in practice, it seems to be more "They're not doing what I like, and I totally represent all the older gamers.". I'm pretty sure you don't.

D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

I keep coming back to this thread hoping someone answers this. But every time someone asks what exactly should they be doing, it is either ignored or deflected. I'm pretty sure it no longer has anything to do with D&D or WoTC, and is now just about demographics in general. So, keep up the good...

D&D General Kobold Press Going Down a Dark Road

“Target adults”, you mean? Sure, I’ll even grant that point. Targeting adults is nice. Now can someone please tell me what that looks like and how they are not doing it? It must be something tangible, to get everyone so worked up about them not doing it. But it’s really hard to discuss...

If for the sake of argument we grant you that point, would you pivot to explaining why it is important? Something more specific than 'They need to target adults too!'?

Maybe that's it? Maybe I'm not seeing it because I'm not acting my age? :). If I was a proper old geezer, maybe I'd be shaking my cane at them as well...

The actual demographics of the game are besides the point. However it breaks down, I still haven't seen anyone explain why they think they are ignoring us older gamers (however many of us there are). What does catering to old folk even look like? What is it you are looking for that they are...

Just wanted to say, that while I enjoy 5e, what you just described right there would have been glorious :).

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

Sorry, one more quick thought: if A Miss is A Miss, and A Hit is A Hit, I'd say that line is already blurred by the inclusion of the Heavy Armor Master feat. How do you justify reducing damage from a hit? Either the armor made them miss, or it didn't. To be consistent, shouldn't it just give...

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

Wow, it’s weird the entire mastery discussion is totally revolving around one specific ability. Well…maybe not that weird…heh. Anyway, the two arguments against DoaM seem to boil down to two camps: 1) it’s too powerful/legendary/MJ-esque to give to a lowly 1st level fighter, or 2) it makes no...

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

Well, I guess the question is, what problem are they trying to solve with any of the mastery abilities? My guess is they are trying to solve: 1) Weapons could be cooler with more differentiation 2) Warriors need something unique The 'damage on miss' is just one of many ideas they obviously...

    Ahsoka trailer

Really happy to see the Rebels crew so prominently featured. If this turns into another season of Rebels, I’ll be well and truly satisfied.

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

That's a rather arbitrary line in the sand, especially since hit points have never been exclusively meat points. Personally, I have no problem with a missed attack still managing to wear down an opponent (as long as it wasn't gratuitous).

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

I have to say, as someone who gravitates more to non-spellcasting classes, this is the first change that has gotten me really interested. Not that I haven't liked some of the other suggestions, but this I really want to see come to fruition in one form or another. I'd definitely want to avoid...

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Weapons Table Shows 'Mastery' Traits

I really like the idea of these. Adding a little extra oomph for mastery is a great idea, and adding to weapon differentiation is a good thing. Obviously we’ll have to see the full details, but on first glance this idea gets a thumbs up for me. I’m not too worried about level dips into...

But again, how is this being aimed at the 18-24 crowd? I haven’t seen one change that made me go “Ick! Only someone 30 years younger would want that!”. I mean, I haven’t liked all the proposed changes, but none of them felt ageist. Is it the VTT? That’s surely not uncommon. My group has...

Well, there goes the argument that they’re abandoning old gamers in favour of the new generation…:)

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to discuss the changes. But: 1). You are on record as having said you are tired of discussing the play tests, as opposed to talking about other D&D topics (despite continuing to engage in the play test discussions) 2) Your discussion of the changes seems to...

Teens may have less disposable income, but are notoriously bad at prioritizing what they have. At least in my day, and I doubt that's changed. I have no trouble believing they're out there buying more D&D books than they technically should be... Edit: And if anyone doubts that I'm part of the...

And yet...you seem content to come in and criticize the changes the rest of us like. The playtest discussions aren't stalking you. You're choosing to engage with them. And by engage, I mean mostly tell us how wrong we are and that WoTC should be doing a better job making you personally happy.
