It makes no difference if what he wrote was sexist or not by the standards of his time. What matters, is that what he wrote was sexist by the standards of our time. And that is literally all the foreward is saying.

I'm actually sad to hear it's going to tie into The Mandalorian story arc. I was really enjoying the idea that this was going to be it's own thing for once. It's not like the galaxy isn't big enough...not all stories need to intersect :(.
