Has Wizards of the Coast Given Up on Sigil?

I mean, I've always thought this, but WotC seemed to be all in. I'm surprised they are changing course on it this fast.

    D&D 5E (2014) Which 5e Should I Propose to My Group? [Updated]

I play straight 2014 5E, and I certainly feel like fighters can do those things. Some players might be less inclined to try it because fighters don't typically have high charisma. But for something like gathering information from other martial types, which would be right in their wheelhouse, I'd...

D&D General Why did you have to cancel/reschedule your most recent session?

I picked "Other." I'm running two campaigns that happen on alternate weekends. There was a week when I couldn't play, so I shifted both campaigns ahead by a week. But then someone in campaign #1, which was up first, couldn't make the intended next session, so I had to bump that session and move...

    How would YOU change Shadowdark?

I'm not an oldschool gamer, and oldschool playstyle isn't a priority for me. So I just figure it's not for me. It apparently does what it does well and pleases people who want that style, and that's fine.

Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks Is Talking About AI in D&D Again

    What a Cocks-and-bull story.

D&D 5E (2024) Magic Missile is saved! Hooray!

Have you tried the column dice (or barrel dice) from Crystal Caste? I quite like rolling those:

    D&D 5E (2014) Bleak Expectations: A Dickensian Adventure for 12th Level Characters

How is the monthly version going to work? Will the articles still be available individually, or will it be one big PDF per month?

Unearthed Arcana Kiss of Mephistopheles: Unbalancing?

A warlock player in one of my games wants to take the "Kiss of Mephistopheles" invocation from Unearthed Arcana. The character's pact is Great Old One rather than Fiend, but we've reflavored GOO to fit the setting, and the character meets all the other prerequisites. However, I'm concerned that...

Evil Drow Statblocks to Return in Forgotten Realms Rulebooks Later This Year

Marvel didn't invent the term "multiverse," nor do they have a monopoly on it. And their recent multiversal stuff hasn't been all that popular either, so I don't know how much it has in the way of coattails to ride.

    D&D 5E (2024) Is Monster Manual 2025 compatible with 2014 Characters?

Can you give an example of a more difficult choice from the 2024 manual? (I'm having trouble picturing how this looks.)

    D&D 5E (2014) Handling Morale Checks

I get what you're saying, but I don't want to take the time to come up with individual personalities for each of the five gnoll bandits attacking the party. I'm happy to let the dice decide whether they're all brave and stupid or whether some of them have a sense of self-preservation. I...

D&D General Drow & Orcs Removed from the Monster Manual

AFAIK, the term fell out of favor because of the influence of Edward Said's book Orientalism, which presented it as a representing a harmful viewpoint. But from what I saw (and I live in a town with a very large East Asian population), it went from common usage to just being replaced, without...

    D&D 5E (2014) Handling Morale Checks

I think part of the problem is that morale isn't purely a matter of wisdom. I feel like for some monsters at least, charisma might be a better stat to roll on.

    Second person plural pronoun

I would just say "Your seats at the table." The fact that "seats" is plural provides the context that "you" is also plural.

    Second person plural pronoun

"Y'all" has not become standard usage in all parts of the US. It still sounds southern to me (I'm a midwesterner). I agree that for formal writing, "you all" or "all of you" is the way to go. Or something like "You and your companions." ("You and your companions find yourselves in a tavern.")

    D&D 5E (2014) Handling Morale Checks

Your system is interesting! I'm not sure I will remember the math enough to do it quickly on the fly. If I have it right, you figure the difference between the enemy and the PCs, and if the PCs are higher level you subtract the difference from the save DC, and if the enemy is higher level, you...

    D&D 5E (2014) Handling Morale Checks

You're right, of course. I'd forgotten about it, but that's probably where I got the system I've been using. I'd really like a better one, though. I don't really like having a flat number for everyone, or only rolling for the leader.
