D&D General (SPOILERS for Vecna: Eve of Ruin) Are My Standards Too High for Adventures?

Oh, I'm sure the information can be found with some research. I was just thinking that a thread would be a nice reference resource, especially if people are on the fence about whether to buy a particular book.

D&D General (SPOILERS for Vecna: Eve of Ruin) Are My Standards Too High for Adventures?

It actually has a fairly awesome short adventure arc in it. I ran the Neverwinter jailbreak/heist episode as a stand-alone a year or two ago. I have a feeling that plenty of tables are going to play Vecna out of the box without running into significant problems. What renders an adventure...

D&D General (SPOILERS for Vecna: Eve of Ruin) Are My Standards Too High for Adventures?

The 64-ish page adventure never went away. It just moved to Adventurer's League.

D&D 5E (2024) Check Out The 2025 Monster Manual Alternate Cover!

I prefer these alternate covers to the standard ones. I'm finding the standard covers a bit cutesy for my taste, and while these alternate ones also have a touch of that, the illustration style makes it easier to swallow.

D&D General (SPOILERS for Vecna: Eve of Ruin) Are My Standards Too High for Adventures?

I am firmly convinced that Tyranny of Dragons would be rated much higher if it hadn't been the first campaign-length adventure to be published for 5E. The single-volume reissue fixed this problem.

D&D General (SPOILERS for Vecna: Eve of Ruin) Are My Standards Too High for Adventures?

Just the castle part. The bulk of Curse of Strahd, i.e. everything outside the castle, is new.

    D&D General Top 5 Best Non-WotC adventures?

Kobold Press published one, The Scarlet Citadel. I haven't played it, though, so can't comment on whether it belongs in the "top 5" list.

    D&D General This cost $20

How big is this thing? Can you use it as a special giant troll at your table and at least get some use out of it?

    D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing "Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus"

More Resources for Chapter 1 A Guide to Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus (PWYW) https://www.dmsguild.com/product/323499/A-Guide-to-Baldurs-Gate-Descent-Into-Avernus This guide is less comprehensive than the DM's Bundle mentioned in post #109, but it's great for quick-and-dirty prep. It's...

D&D 5E (2014) Escaping from (rope) bonds... What is your ruling?

Haven't read the whole thread. But if Acrobatics can be used to wriggle out of grapples, it should be usable to get out of ropes as well. Sleight of hand strikes me more as being about quickness and subtlety, though, so it seems less useful.

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing Vecna: Eve of Ruin *SPOILERS*

I wouldn't even call it minor, based on the number of hours I've spent hunting for just the right maps and NPC art when a published adventure doesn't provide them for some strange reason.

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing Vecna: Eve of Ruin *SPOILERS*

The "enhancing" threads are meant to be places for people to share any cool thing or idea that will make the adventure run better at the table. All of them have included ways to add to an adventure without changing it, through additional resources or add-on side adventures. Maybe this particular...

D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing Vecna: Eve of Ruin *SPOILERS*

For background, the title came from a similar series of threads back on the old WotC forums. It has the weight of tradition behind it. This is definitely the kind of thing that gets shared on these threads.

    D&D 5E (2014) Enhancing "Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus"

Help! Players saved Thavius Kreeg and plan to make him open the puzzle box. My players forced Amrik Vanthampur to draw them a map of the dungeon under the villa, and they entered through the sewers, which meant they could go straight to the vault after making a slight detour to rescue Falaster...

D&D General New Interview with Rob Heinsoo About 4E

There is always going to be talk about better balance. The question is how dominant it is.

D&D General Why Do People Hate Gnomes?

(Haven't read the rest of discussion, just responding to the OP's question). I don't hate gnomes, but they don't have a strong niche in my mind. They're sort of halfway between halflings and elves, but not distinct enough from either one to feel like their own thing. This leads to me...

D&D 5E (2014) Should Explicit Monster Roles Return?

Ah, got you. No, if you're talking about a whole population, like kobolds, that just makes them more individualized.

D&D 5E (2014) Should Explicit Monster Roles Return?

Personally, I feel like it leads to a rather sterile pigeonholing of monsters. I think it's more fun if they can be messy and defy categories.
