D&D General Huge Equipment Lists: Good, Bad, or Ugly?

I'm reminded of this from 2009 Afghanistan.

D&D General Not the Wicked Witch: Revisiting the Legacy of Lorraine Williams

When I read that, in my mind, for various reasons, I equated Uncle Gary with GRRM, who appears to be out glad-handing everyone instead of wrapping up his GoT stuff, he's out making new HBO stuff. But, I agree with you.

Won't someone think of poor Boo?!

    D&D General Who shouldn't play D&D

I always quote Matt Colville: There are no Bad Players. There are only players who aren't right for your table, but would be absolutely fine at another table with people like them. So, clearly, D&D or games can be for anyone

    D&D 5E (2014) Gracklstugh

I think any city, fantasy or not, isn't necessarily refuse entrance to people 'just because'. Now, a party of adventurers showing up might cause a lot of questions to be asked - why are they here? How long are they intending to stay? Yknow, typical questions that customs at the airport is...

D&D General D&D Player's Handbook 2024: The Official Advance Review

D&D General D&D Player's Handbook 2024: The Official Advance Review

This reminds me of the discussion I'd seen about D&D being confusing for new players because of the sheer numbers of ways in earlier editions especially you could use the term 'level'

Describe your last rpg session in 5 words

Playing hot potato legal paperwork.. (Traveller. My character got served at a memorial service for a PC who died, and the lawyer and I kept passing the paperwork back and forth. Once I realized this C-list reality star was trying to get footage, I actively kept moving and ruining the shot his...

RPG Evolution: Hike Like a Hero

Very impressive. I have a friend who hiked the whole AT at one go -- other than the part that's in Scotland, useless fact. Sadly, the next most D&D part of hiking the AT are the random encounters. Sometimes, they're harmless and fun - metting cool new people with a similiar idea. And...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Player's Handbook Video Redactions & Takedowns

I think the point that people miss is this is SOP - or should be - for protecting product identity. To me, it's along the same line about how Xerox became the standard term used for copying things. Once you don't protect your product in America, it's done. I think the issue here also is who...

    Gen Con Sold Out!

I took my older brother, who started in Basic D&D and quit the hobby as a teen, with me one year when it was still in Milwaukee. He went as a 'well, it's a new experience' kinda thing, but had a great time. I believe the year they moved Gencon to Milwaukee is the year they finished the 2-hour...

Dragonlance More Dragonlance coming in 2026

Y'know... I'll say it. I liked Tass as a character. However - much like the drow ranger clones that also appeared at tables - the vast amount of people using the kender trope to essentially grab control of tables I was at and disrupt the game was maddening. Not to go off on too far a tangent...

Dragonlance More Dragonlance coming in 2026

I'm hoping it is new novels and adventures (not nessecarily modules/AP) although I thought Legend of Huma and Kaz the Minotaur were fine enough books when I read them a hundred years ago.

Spells: do you prefer Rotes or Dynamic?

Not just that, but I feel there can be a higher chance of players and GMs disagreeing on whether the PC has the right requirements met to actually pull off the effect. That's why I always had such a difficult time the first time I tried to play Mage in the 90s.

    Worlds of Design: Besieged!

I wish I had the article or could remember the issue because that concept is so strange and interesting to me. I do wonder if it predated the Terminator and the flesh restriction they had. I assume the concept is similar to asking why in comics or the MCU, Vision doesn't just phase through...

    Worlds of Design: Besieged!

There was an interesting concept I read in Dragon decades ago. The idea was that living material blocked teleportation or ethereal/astral travel, so cities covered buildings with ivy and living plants to block those ways of entrance.

    D&D 5E (2024) Another D&D 2024 Monster Preview: The Kuo-Toa!

I'm reminded of a joke from Critical Role's campaign 2, I believe the first episode, Nott says to Caleb not to move, because tieflings can only track movement, and Jester (a tiefling) agrees.

    D&D 5E (2024) I just got a 2024 PHB From Gen Con. AMA!

Agreed. But my favorite thing with DS was definitely the material used to make weapons and armor - like, omfg, a metal sword! I'm a god now!
