Tripped over this while searching for results of the Aug 5th thing: The Hearing is Set for August 18 to Hear Motions Regarding Diamond's Consignment Sale Plan - Graphic Policy

TSR Blast from the Past- How to Go Full Monty Haul in AD&D

No beard but I did play D&D before there were versions, saw Star Wars before there were episodes and remember when Monty Hall was a game show host.

    Today I learned +

Saw this topic: I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism and looked up the word 'bioessentialism'. And now I have yet another use for that 10' pole so popular in early editions.

D&D General Disparity in PC levels from same party

If the levels are within 1 or 2, can work. Too far apart and something like a sleep spell can take the low levels out while ignoring the higher. Almost any AOE spell that does damage can put a low level at risk while leaving the high levels with lots of HP left. Burning Hands vs a 3,3,3,1...

    What's Your Price Limit?

In 1980, The AD&D PHB was $10 by the price list in the back with a page count of 126. (DMG listed as future publication) Adjusted for inflation, today's price would be $39. By comparison, the PF2 Players Core is listed at $60 on Paizo web site and it has a page count of 326. By page count...

D&D General 70% Of Games End At Lvl 7?

In my experience, a majority of game ends are due to the GM running out of ideas or exhausting the campaign they started and not some mystical level issue. I think this is why the 1-20 adventure paths came out. But adventure paths have their own, well discussed issues and often end early for...

    Wizkids mini question

Drill out the holes if you have small drill bits. If the holes wind up a bit too large, glue to the rescue. Or as mentioned, sand off the pegs and again, glue to the rescue. If you plan on painting the base, rough it up with fine grit sandpaper before you glue on the mini.

Worlds of Design: In the Shadow of Tolkien

Was playing RPGs before reading Tolkien but not by much. Was introduced to both in college. I knew of the Hobbit in high school as some class I didn't take required reading it. For a couple of weeks each semester, you would see several students carrying around paperback versions. Other then...

General Questions For A New Book

Standard IANAL disclaimer. Names from classic mythology are generally safe. Zeus, Apollo, Jupiter, Hector, etc. Names from older text should also be good. Think Bible era. I would avoid a direct reference to published settings. Don't call it Dark Sun. Cast it as taking place in a desert...

Itch.io is shadowbanning or deleting NSFW and LGBTQ content

This tactic by Visa/Mastercard isn't new. Been going on in the US for several years. Discover has long been the card of choice in such situations but Discover was recently bought by Capitol-One(What's in your Wallet?) so that may change. Don't think Discover works in the EU/GB since it has...

So you're done with D&D but still want to play D&Dish fantasy...

Lore is very portable between game systems. Not that hard to run a PF game in Waterdeep. Or Cidri, the primary world of The Fantasy Trip. I have an impromptu experiment going featuring PF1 and PF2. Two different GMs are running games and I have a similar character concept running in each...

Paizo Partners with Titan Forge and MyMiniFactory to Offer Premium STLs and Print-On-Demand Miniatures

This. I have used coins, slugs, glass beads, etc to represent encounter critters. My red T-Rex D&D collectable purchased for $5 on the secondary market has seen many uses as a dragon, giant, or at least once a T-Rex. Most players would much rather have a close match to how they visualize...

Which Chips (or Fries) Are the Best?

Some of the best fries were had when I was a kid at the local Dixie Dog hamburger joint. When you ordered the fries, you could watch the owner put the potato into the magic curly fry maker and crank the handle. So really fresh fries. The place is still there. Don't know if they still hand...

D&D 5E (2024) Effects that kill you at 0 hp

A combat encounter without meaningful risk is a waste of time. A risk free encounter should go something like this: "The party is traveling through the dark woods. A band of ogres takes the party by surprise. The party manages to kill the ogres with little trouble. The party divides the...

    History Rhymes: Another Gygax Lawsuit

None of my comment is directed at your write up. I think that is very informative and well done. I was expressing my opinion that the FB post isn't defamation and why. If I was on the jury, my vote would be no defamation. As for Causes of Action A, B and C, I would have to see more evidence...

    History Rhymes: Another Gygax Lawsuit

Standard IANAL disclaimer but I didn't see any defamation in that FB post. Just a softly written 'be aware' posting about a KS. It has several 'my opinion' and 'best of my knowledge' claims. Not statements of fact. The whole complaint has the feel of a deal gone bad in one person's view...

Help me brainstorm a grounded military mecha campaign set in the year 2050

2050 is 15 years out. Watching how the Russia v Ukraine war is playing out, seems unlikely that anyone is going to invest massive amounts of money into large easy to hit high profile vehicles. Many current era tanks are more heavily armored then most classic mechs yet tanks have proven rather...

    D&D General Eberron Hexcrawl Help

Change the scale as needed. For travel 'To Get There', 1 hex per day works. Once you get to the area to scout, change the scale to 1 hex per mile. If they find something interesting or a place they want to explore in detail, change the scale again. If you use nautical miles, that one mile...
