    GSL news.

I am very happy that WOTC will have a free license available. My hope is that it will not be too restrictive. I would of course like to see the license now (don't need the SRD) so that I have time to digest the legalise, but if I have to wait until June thats better than waiting 6 months. My...

Help me out. PoL. Why don't small towns get overrun?

    1. Because they have made a pact with a demon to hand over any adventurers that come through. 2. Because they are in fact dopplegangers. 3. Because they are vampires 4. Because they are werewolves.

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

Actually I think the obfuscation of the names is so that its much more difficult for a 3d party to create a compatible product without playing by WOTCs rule.

MD, Laurel or Frederick Game Wanted

bump. Took me awhile to get settled. I think I have time for a game now. Aberdeen is a bit too far. I could possibly do Frederick during the week but would prefer the Laurel/Columbia area. Open to start a new game group. Thanks, Scott

Looking for Players for a 3.5 Eberron game in MD/VA

Hi, I moved to Laurel this summer. I am looking for a D&D game, but I am not sure if Sun afternoon would wok for me. Do you play with Queen_Dopplepopolis? Anyway your profile doesn't allow for sending you an email. Send me an email scottcmetzger at gmail dot com Thanks, Scott

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

No 1e & 2e out of the box never felt right for me.

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

Re-read my original post I did say 'doesn't feel like TO ME'. 1e & 2e no longer 'feel' like D&D to me. Actually they never did. I always had a mountain of house rules and the rules as written did not 'feel' like D&D to me. Notice I didn't say 1e & 2e are not D&D. Nor did I say 1e and 2e do...

Blog post on the feel of D&D (marmell, reynolds et all)

Some of the goals and the way the 4e designers implemented them 'do not feel like D&D to me'. With 3.5 I have come to expect the following things of D&D... 1) Vancian Magic. Wizards get a wide variety of spells to choose and you need to pick your daily spells wisely. 2) Monsters and PCs use...

    D&D 4E 4E Marketing Campaign?

Actually a spot on Heroes could work very well.

    Gleemax Q&A

Can someone post a link to the actual text? If it is non-exclusive thats good. But I still don't like that they can take whatever they like and re-use it.

    Gleemax Q&A

What if someone or a group of people on Gleemax pooled their ideas on house rules and come up with something really good. Now they can't publish it because it is WOTC's property. Even IF WOTC never takes anything on Gleemax and publishes it on DI or in a book; if I post something on Gleemax...

    Gleemax Q&A

Posting a rule Gleemax would negate the ability to also contribute it to something like Netbook of Feats. Some of my rules were re-used by other companies and published. I want to retain the right to at least get credit for something I think of. If they want to be able to grab stuff for DI...

Is this what you went through with 3rd Edition?

I didn't hear those complaints. The only complaint I heard was "They told us they weren't making a 3rd edition" 2e was around longer than 3e was and it had gotten to the point that you could not play without having lots of house rules. The 'kits' were a fiasco.

    Gleemax Q&A

eegads, their using Sharepoint. That seems a very bad choice for a public site. Anyway, Isn't there some such legal nonsens that if you post something on Gleemax its the property of Gleemax? Or maybe if you post it on Gleemax you can't post it anywhere else? I know there was something very...

Who still doesn't have a horse in this race?

Count me for Undecided. The switch to 3e was a no-brainer. 3.5 fixed more problems then it created, so I switch. IMO 3.5 is a good system. My house rules can fit on one page (I stick to pretty much core). If my house rules for 4e are the same or less than my 3.5 house rules, then I'll...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

I am not saying this is a good thing. However, this is why you heal all hp after resting in 4e... 1) They wanted to lessen the dependence that you had to have a Cleric in the party. 2) In previous editions you usually were at full hp's after a night of resting. You needed a Cleric, but you...

D&D 4E My first two 4E house rules

Actually a lot of people do this. Suspension, wheels, and tires are the first. Then CAI, chip, and exhaust.

    After some thought...

This about sums up my concerns also. It seems people are coming up with house rules already. In the days leading up to the release of 3e, people were not developing house rules. I have very few house rules for 3.5. If after trying 4e I find that I have more house rules, well I guess I'll...
