Gotta go with Hype on this one.

    Question about called shots

Yes, DC 15 Fort, and its for a single attack. No, its not optional. But that has nothing to do with 20hp damage 'to the head'. By core rules there is not location specifics for hp damage. That being said, many Feats emulate 'Called Shots' in an abstract way. A called shot is used to target...

    Liches and XP

You get XP each time you accomplish your objective. The first encounter seems like the objective will be to kill the lich; probably the second also. However, when and if the objective shifts to destroying the lich then they only get XP for actually destroying it.

Why would a frost giant have a frost weapon?

I agree with green slime. Additionally, frrom a more rules perspective... Although special materials for magic item creation is an optional rule, we all know that actual gold is not used in magic item creation. The gold is used to purchase unspecified materials for creating magic-items...

    Specificicity of the Search skill?

The rules allow a DM to give circumstance bonuses and penalties as he sees fit. In addition to the above suggestions you can just tell players OOC that they will find more things if they specify the locations they are searching.

    Battle Grid

He is talking about the 'toddler' duplo lego's. They are pretty reasonable priced. Another use for duplo is take two of the 4x2 pieces and superglue them together to make a 4x4. The resulting piece is about 1.5"x1.5" and makes a good 'stand' to put large minis on to make them into advanced...

    Battle Grid

If its correctly sized and then you enlarge it, it won't be correctly sized anymore. If you are trying to do this on the cheap. The cheapest way is to get posterboard and draw your own lines and then get a piece of clear vinyl (can be purchased by the yard at any place that sells fabric e.g...

Exceptions to the "can't occupy the same square" rule

Grappling, Overrun, I also believe that ally's can share the same 'space' using the squeezing rules. Plus there are some monster special abilities that can fit this like the Air Elementals Whirlwind, the Water Elementals Vortex, and other creatures that have Swallow Whole You can move through...

    Familiars, share spell, and Polymorph.

Yes, as long as you stay within 5 ft. Although technically you couldn't move more than 5 ft at a time, becuase even though you are on the same initiative someone has to go first. I think its in the spirit of the rules to allow simultaneous movement.

    Precision targeting of spells

My house rule is that if an ally is right on the edge of an area of effect then the caster needs to make a spellcraft check with DC = number of squares to the center of the effect. If he fails then the center has shifted 5 ft and caught his buddy.

    Charging through an Invisible Opponent

Ah, but with an overrun the opponent can chose to avoid.

    Charging through an Invisible Opponent

I was thinking overrun at first but I think that bull rush is equally valid. Here is what I would do, which is not 100% btb... When the attackers enters the square of the invisible man, the invisible man gets an AoO. If the invisible man does _not_ take his AoO. Roll for the invisiblity miss...

    Ranged Attack Hitting Your Buddy

I hated that rule in 2e and I hate that it has propagated over to the shooting at someone in a grapple. With this rule in place a good archer has the same chance of rolling his attack against his friend as the enemy, and if he rolls against his friend then he has a better chance of actually...

    Dimension Door and Escape Artist

I would say that wouldn't work. The spell description says "...You can bring along objects as long as their weight doesn’t exceed your maximum load...." My reading of this would indicate that the DD works but you fail to bring the heavy stuff.

D&D 3.x Complaining about 3.5 weapon size rules

All I have to say is that Sting was made by elves for an elf, yet Bilbo and Frodo had no problems picking it up and using it.
