D&D Video Gaming News - Hasbro sues for breach of contact by Atari

    1) I don't think a D&D game is going to topple WoW or have that kind of success. 2) I do think a PC based D&D game can make money 3) It would be interesting to see a bunch of smaller games for DS, iPhone, and Android. I'd be seriously interested in a game on iPhone or Android.

    monk weapons

Also, if you use Weapon Groups from Unearthed Arcana you can get prof in Polearms. IMO the most effective monk build is one with a Polearm and then a magic item that allows enlarge. This allows unarmed reash 5-10' out and then the polearm out to 15'.

    2 PC campaign, Which Class?

Def Druid. See if the DM will allow weapon groups from Unearthed Arcana( I think?). Then have the Monk take a pole arm weapon group, give him a long spear or bardich (I think). This will allow him to use the polearm at 10', and he can use his monk unarmed combat at 5'. Also, look for...

Do you have a local game store?

I am sure there is one near me. But I have no need for one, so I have never looked for one.

Is Entangle supposed to be limited by the available vegetation?

According to RAW, its completly up to the DM. Its a powerful spell, I would limit it in any way possible.

    Vampire Kingdom

Yeah, I don't like the whole undead god thing either. Here is my suggestion, keep everything except the undead god thing. Do not give any explanation for the eternal night in this one area. No-one knows why. Its obviously the key to their power. I am sure by the time the PCs get to...

    Area of a medieval town?

I think fire would be less likely in a D&D city, with the cheap availability of magical light there would be less accidental fires.

Sometimes, a skeleton is not just a skeleton.

This is why there are sooo many different monsters for D&D. All DMs want to surprise players every now and then. I have no problem with you altering monsters in an adhoc way for 3.5. If you are an experienced DM then you don't need the EL crutch anyway. Since you have greatly reduced xp for...

Can charisma be something more than just dump stat?

One thing I do... On occasion there is the situation where there is no clear reason why a monster would attack one PC over another. Usually a DM will roll the dice to see who the monster attacks. I, however, have the monster always attack the PC with the lower Charisma.

Fire Elementals - Unique and Fun abilities

Yes, thats more inline with what I was thinking. I wouldn't give summoned elementals these extra abilities, or if I did then you would summon the one from the lower list. Elementals are one of the most powerful creatures you can summon already.

    Dangerous Delves Preview II

Unicorn - got one don't need another medusa - got a couple don't need more harpy - got a couple don't need more yuan-ti - got a handful don't need more snake swarm - I hope it looks good in person 'cause this is the only one I don't have.

    The Luke Skywalker Paradox

It depends on the campaign. 1) If you have a focused campaign like yours or RHoD or RttToEE then realy aren't necessary and can get in the way of the enjoyment. A side plot will need to directly relate to the main plot (maybe someone needs a certain magic-item) or it will need to be a...

Water Elementals - Unique and Fun Abilities

What are some unique and fun abilities to give Water Elementals? Not necessarily give them all the abilities but one or two to keep it interesting. I am not sure how to balance these. Some initial brainstorming... - Heal while in water - Suffocate when not connected to water (use drowning...

Fire Elementals - Unique and Fun abilities

I've been giving some thought to elementals and I think it would be nice to have some 'extra' abilities and drawbacks for them. I am open to suggestions on how to make these balanced. First lets just brainstorm on some interesting abilities and drawbacks for fire elementals... - Heal if 'fed'...

Martial arts affecting your GMing style

There may have been stories but there was no literature. Tolkien and CS Lewis invented fiction and fantasy. They sat down in a pub and lamented over the fact that there were no fiction fantasy books. So, they decided to create there own genre. I think from a game designers perspective it is...

    The iPhone Will Kill D&D

Eh, well Steve is sick, he IS the company, and he has not groomed a replacement. So, once he goes, its a good bet that Apple will take a significant downturn 2-5 years afterward. Back to the main question. Lets see how computers have influenced my gaming over the past 25 or so years... 25...

    Why DON'T you pirate?

I think we need to split 'piracy' into two different types... 1) Downloading pdfs etc 2) Distributing pdfs etc. Strictly USA here, other countries may have different laws. #1 is NOT illegal, its not against the law and you cannot be prosecuted for it #2 is illegal and you can be prosecuted for...
