D&D 5E (2014) Healing spirit has been updated?

No that is not all that matters. Balance with other classes also matters I would say.

D&D 5E (2014) Healing spirit has been updated?

I never said rangers don't have any good spells. I said they have the worst spells compared to every other class in the game and that rangers have an inability to be flexible in their spells like their subcaster counterpart the paladin.

D&D 5E (2014) Healing spirit has been updated?

The problem with rangers are many not the least of which is there spells 1-Unlike Paladins they can't change out their spells daily. This irks me because it makes perfect sense for a ranger to swap spells depending on the terrain or situation they maybe in. This fits the ultimate survivalist...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

Yes. I am aware of Mearl's explanation. My point was I think Hasbro made that decision before Mearls and Mearls as a representative of the company had to give a reason to support the slow schedule production. Hasbro is in the business of making money and if the books made the profit margins...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

The assumption is not opposite of what the text states. The text on spell level says spell levels given a general indication of how powerful a spell is. Keyword general. By using the term general it means1) there will be specific cases that are outside the norm and 2) there are factors...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

5E has been unquestionably successful but WOTC has not been forth coming with how much of that is from book sales vs. other revenue such as computer game sales, D&D Beyond, the D&D themed board games and toys, etc. I have a high suspicion that is a good majority of the sales and 5Es success is...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

I agree. XG for the most part just shored up weak options in the PHB like the ones you mentioned. I think the options they introduced are interesting and competitive with the PHB but not broken. As far as updating their books they could easily do that and then change the covers to all new...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

No. It is not a faulty premise because I say so. Your premise is faulty by the fact that the rules of the game give different classes different spells even if they all gain spell levels at different times. For proof of this I would recommend page 207 of the PHB. Also, I never said a character...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e "Easy Mode?"

Thank you. This is one thing that some people keep missing. In the context being discussed (a game) the term easy mode is and so essentially means not fun or not real D&D like in the old days.

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

Well first the bard was not balanced in the PHB. The lore bard was stronger than the valor bard. The fact that XG corrected the issue and gave a more competitive options to frontline bards is a good thing not a flaw. I'd anything the flaw was in the original design (the phb). To hold XG to a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e "Easy Mode?"

Um no. Having played and still owning the books from those editions I am basing what I said off the actual rules of those editions and not the description of adventures. Descriptions of adventures have nothing to do with actual game mechanics. What I mean by rules mechanics of older editions...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

For the most part the PHB options remain the strongest in the game. Xanathar's did upset the balance. The college of more bard I would argue by far remains the strongest and most utilitarian bard type. HS is broken if you look at it in a vacuum and look at spell level and not spell and class...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e "Easy Mode?"

The older editions were the problem specifically 1st edition. Even as someone who started in older editions I would not tolerate the random F ery that existed in those editions. For example, if our party of PCs encountered a room full of cockatrices at level 1 that wiped out the party. We...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

You start off on a faulty premise when you state spells are ranked by spell level and class had nothing to do with it. Spells are ranked by spell AND class access. There is a separate spell list for clerics and druids etcetera in the PHB it isn't just all X level spells. Thus class access...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e "Easy Mode?"

    1. It is not easy mode because of the points @Minigiant laid out in his response. It is also not easy mode because yes while the game is cinematic and larger than life there still exist a chance for characters to die or be knocked out and not achieve their objective (rescuing a kidnapped Noble...

D&D 5E (2014) Healing spirit has been updated?

And as I posted elsewhere therein lies one of the problems with critics of the spell: people (not you but some people) look at the spell in a vacuum without looking at what classes do and don't have access to the spell. HS as written pre-errata was good because it have classes that were less...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

I fully agree. Anything that keeps the party going between encounters thus helping the action and plot to move forward is a good thing for the game. This is one reason why I don't like the "one hour" short rests as a default in 5E and next time it is my turn to run I will be implementing the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e "Easy Mode?"

I will absolutely agree with you that the flavor (not the mechanics) of 2E was awesome. In my opinion, 2E still had the overall best art work (and variety of artistic styles) of any edition which contributed to conveying the flavor of the edition/setting. I am thinking particularly of the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Xanathar's Guide errata coming

It was never grossly unbalanced you can't just look at the spell in a vacuum but class access to spells as well. Classes like cleric did not have access to healing spirit. The spell helped classes with more limited healing abilities heal like the druid and the ranger. As it stands the nerf...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is 5e "Easy Mode?"

Yes Conan was afraid of magic because he was a barbarian from a primitive culture but he was clearly far beyond the normal human in terms of ability. He could move columns with his muscle and do other feats in the original Robert E. Howard stories. Then you have other characters of...
