    OotS #792 us ip!

NOOOO!!! Not Mr. Scruffy! That dirty yellow kobold shot Mr. Scruffy! I think Belkar's collection of kobold skull hats is going to be expanded soon.

Which celebrity would be your ideal RPG author?

I would give my towel away to read an RPG written by the late, great Douglas Adams. I also second the Joss Whedon vote.

That was legitimately funny. Who is the person with the green hair? He/she (looks like an elf, so gender is ambiguous) looks familiar.

Ever see a Strengh 18/00 rolled legitimately?

The best I personally saw was an 18/97. I have a friend who once ran a game where one character had legitimately rolled all 18's down the line, with strength being an 18/00. The character died in the third room.

    Rules Misunderstandings Over The Years

This is similar to mine. A friend told me that when he first started playing AD&D1, he thought that characters gained the HIT POINTS of the monsters they killed (added to their own HP total, of course). The cure light wounds spell suddenly became much more useful once they realized their mistake.

Pathfinder 1E Question for the Paizo folks regarding D&D's state of today

On that day, I will mourn the death of my hobby. :.-(

Pathfinder 1E Question for the Paizo folks regarding D&D's state of today

I have a great deal of respect for you, Erik, both for your success at Paizo and your previous work. And I must say that your analysis here scares the hell out of me. Are they really so short-sighted that they will torpedo the entire industry just to try and compete with WoW? I understand you...

D&D 4E Comparing notes: Differences in play experience in 4e

It has been stated many times here and other places that in 1st edition AD&D, the actual play experience that different groups had were vastly different from other groups playing the same game (for various reasons). My question is: Are we seeing the same phenomenon in 4th edition? That is...

First Edition feel with 4E rules

Very interesting responses, all! Thank you for your enthusiasm, and for keeping it civil (or at least, not invoking "Moderator Red Typeface of Doom!"). One clarification: I was assuming that a "reasonable" amount of house-ruling would be required to achieve the goal. I just wanted to see if...

First Edition feel with 4E rules

Partially in response to this thread, I wish to ask the assembled ENWorlders this: How could one create a game with the feel of AD&D 1e while still using the 4th edition rule set? Is it even possible?

Can I edit XP comments after they are posted?

Hi. I just made a silly little typo in an experience point comment I posted, and wanted to quickly correct it. I can't figure out how to edit comments after posting them. Will someone help me, please? Thanks!

What does your ENWorld name mean?

Once, uncounted eons ago, when wizards were called "magic-users" and adventures were called "modules", there was a dungeon module called B1: In Search of the Unknown. This module describes Quasqueton, the legendary home of Rogann (a mighty warrior) and Zelligar (an equally powerful wizard)...

    Morrus gets married today!

Congratulations and all the best to you both! May all the expeditions you and your new "adventuring companion" go on be exciting and rewarding!;) EDIT: Although hopefully not as exciting as the adventures these people tend to have:

Gamma World, past and Future (Hold the CCG)

Hiero's Journey and it's sequel are obvious inspirations for much of Gamma World. Post-nuclear war North America, mutated intelligent animals, ancient ruins with unknown technology, people (and animals) with weird psychic powers, shadowy groups who work at cross-purposes to each other (Cryptic...

    Oots 0743

There is a growing list of odd beliefs the OOTS characters have. For example: Durkon - Hates/fears trees. Haley - Doesn't trust marsupials. Elan - Too many to count. Belkar - ...is just Belkar. Roy - ???

Going back in time to play your novice days again

One more thing I would do: Go back and actually READ everything on the 1e DMG Inspirational Reading list. I am ashamed to admit that I never got to read all of it (most of it, yes) and now it's almost impossible to find some of those works. :.-(
