I like to make barbys with tavern brawler and beat up monks with my fists.

I like using hammers with a dwarf monk.

5e learned alot from 4th and then took a couple steps back. Onednd might be making some of those failures like the vet. I dont think wotc has what it takes in the digital area to make it IMO.

Maybe what martial need is a 1st lvl feature called combat role. Kinda like how you decide whether your cleric armored or cantrip. So defender role would get "mark" any opponent attacked is marked and gets a -2 or disadvantage if they target another person."striker" 1.5 ability damage for 2hd...

Make it separate from feats

The core monk class needs a d10 hitdice. Among other things. Im not asking for damage resist and armor proficiencies. But it definately needs a d10, nothing is going to change that for me.

Alot of my players have been military.

I want crouching tiger hidden dragon. That definitely includes weapons.

So far what I have seen in the play tests have been just as much miss as hit. Weapon mastery and some feat fixes. Martial sorta kinda got buffs from those fixes. Monks still bad, maybe worse. Do full casters need new stuff? I was on team 5.5, but I dont see them touching alot of 5e complaints or...

Its looks like the monk got almost as many things taken Way as they where given. I'm waiting for youtubers to give me the math. They do look like they are better skirmishes but I have found that is not all reliable.
