So was Hackmaster, but people still loved it. T&T was more than a D&D knockoff, it took an entirely different approach to RPG design in many respects. It was an innovator.

Given that Goodman said in one of his earlier statements that they could have abandoned the project, I'm guessing they did have an exit clause, or that the agreement was structured in such a way that they didn't need one.
