Disagree. Ostracizing them keeps their numbers low. Sure, they are reduced to a hard core. But the increase in hate crimes now that racists are openly spreading their views, and in positions of power, is not a coincidence. Keep 'em on the fringe. They belong in the shadows, hiding like roaches.

I understand what you're saying, but I think a) that consequences are one of the best teachers, and b) it isn't up to society to change these peoples' beliefs, anyway. Society needs to protect itself and each other from these beliefs.

Possibly true, but rescuing hateful people ain't my job. As a recovering addict, I'm pretty big on the idea of taking personal responsibility for one's own shortcomings. I'm also big on the idea of helping people... who want help. The idea that bigots need to be platformed, convinced, saved...

They had/have as much opportunity as anyone else. 1) the opportunity to change is always there, they need to be the ones to do it. It's an inside job. 2) Consequences are still one of the best teachers.
