    Warforged ECL 0???? Yeah right!!!!

I'd say that having your companions dropping like flies around you right as you're going to face a threat you thought you were prepared for is pretty horrifying. Unless the party is on antagonistic terms, being immune to something yourself doesn't make it not a factor. Another example: Say...

    Warforged ECL 0???? Yeah right!!!!

I'm not seeing how Warforged make all these challenges "invalid" unless the entire party is Warforged. Starving in the desert? Sure, the Warforged doesn't starve, but getting food is still just as vital unless he wants to be in a party of corpses. Aquatic campaign? Sure, you could go dive...

    I Have A Problem With 3E

Wow, I guess this shows how there's no "one perfect system" for everybody, because most of the things you're complaining about I would count as bonuses. Multiclassing If anything, Multiclassing should be easier. Remove the penalty entirely, and remove the false idea that "class = character"...

    Collateral damage

Actually, the reason I don't worry about the collateral damage of spells is that they have very little. The rules for material hardness and hp make it pretty much impossible to destroy stuff without a concerted effort. For instance, Fireball, used outdoors, makes a crater only 1 inch deep...

What spells do you get tired of seeing wizard players take? Cliche's, etc.

See, the fun part about Magic Missile is what it does and how versatile that is for adding your own flavor. For instance, a while ago, I was thinking about how to design a spell - the caster forms their opponent's figure out of shadow and cuts through it with an athame, then the wounds appear...

    Treatment for a jerk player?

The longspear is far too practical a weapon. Give him a net or a whip (without any proficiency, of course). Also, Mage Hand might actually have some use - try Detect Poison instead. Actually, our group does this (sort of). We have a "loaner" character for people who forget their character...

    Shape of Spells - Feat?

Extraordinary Spell Aim is what you're looking for, I believe. I think it's in Complete Adventurer.

    Half-Ogre player character

Powerful Build would cover several of those (the bonus to checks, the Monkey Grip, and the ability to use a large heavy mace). But yeah, I'd start with the Goliath and go from there.

How do you have a mentor travel with a group of PC's and NOT steal their spotlight?

Maybe they need to seek out an item/person/place, which is magically hidden. The mentor has a spell that can find it, but he has to keep constant concentration to maintain it, and thus can't help in a fight. Conversely, maybe someone is trying to scry on them and the anti-scrying spell...

    Buffs and Maths (mini-rant)

While I don't really mind the way buffs work now, and certainly wouldn't want magic reduced to just simple effects (complex tactics are the whole point of being a mage, IMO), I have thought about a buff-simplifying system that might be useful. 1) All effects stack with everything. 2) You get a...

If item creation didn't use Xp, what should it use?

Well, think about it - what do magic items cost? Gold and XP. And what do quests give you? Gold and XP. So that's a possible solution right there. Instead of spending gold and XP on making items, you have to go on an appropriately difficult quest for rare components. The quest should be...

    "Forget" Spell

Again, Programmed Amnesia - you can basically rewrite their entire memory and personality.

    Necromantic Druids

Since making normal undead might not work so well for a Druid, see if you can research a spell to make Yellow Musk Zombies (MM2 or maybe FF) - they're all-natural. :p

    The "Low Magic"/"Rare Magic" Conundrum

Part of it is that most magic-using characters is fiction are closer to Sorcerers than Wizards. So they've got a limited number of spells. Now let's assume that they've used a number of their spells known on really long duration buff spells that they only cast once a week or less, that have...

The funny thing about paladins of wee jas...

Heck, you could even have a (non-evil) undead cohort. Ghosts and Mummies can specifically be good. Now that would be something to see.

Wizards are supposed to be rich, right?

A lot is in how you phrase it. Let's take Wall of Iron, for example: Incorrect: "I'm going to cast Wall of Iron and sell it, how much does X pounds iron sell for?" Correct: "I'm going to Fabricate some weaponry. How much does it cost to buy iron?" And then sell your iron, if the price is...

    Fully psionic fantasy campaigns?

Empathic Transfer + Vigor does give you some healing capacity, although not as potent as a Cleric. If you're playing in Eberron though, Psionic Repair Damage kicks ass at healing Warforged, much better than Cure spells! An alternative is to get some rats and use Hostile Empathic Transfer on them.

    Player Complaints About Pre-Gens

There's a difference between "super optimized" and "fully functional" characters - these didn't even sound like the latter. I mean, come on, a Paladin who can't even use most of the Paladin abilities? Why not just have a LG Fighter then? I can think of several reasons to use characters like...

How do you describe hp loss?

I use the standard HP system (with more or a dying threshold than -10 though), but when describing it I use a Durability score, which is based purely on the target's Constitution and size: HP > Durability: Bruises, exhaustion, but no actual physical injury yet. HP < Durability: Actually taking...

Annoyed with D&D Game Day Characters

Powerful Charge can be described in less than a sentence, and if we're talking new players they would probably need to be reminded what the PHB feats did as well, so it's not really adding any complexity. Now if we were talking Vow of Poverty or something, I'd agree, but Powerful Charge is a...
