    [SWSE] Deflect and Critical Hits

Its on the FAQ thread I believe.

    True 20 questions

True 20 is flexible enough to do this. For example, an Adept 5/Warrior 3 can have Acrobatics, Climb, Jump, Stealth and Swim as skills. The result is that you have a physically trained magic using PC. What True 20 does do is balance combat with magic with skills on a per level basis i.e. a point...

    True 20 questions

The distinction between classes and roles is a tricky concept to get your mind around. If you want a truly "points buy" system with no classes, D20 and even True 20, are not the best choice as the underlying system doesn't have a way of equating what +1 bonus to combat is to a +1 to a skill...

Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide

I had heard that too. After the unfounded DoD delay gripes, I think it is about time the benefit of doubt (to an extent) is given back to the SW team.

Knights of the Old Republic Campaign Guide

DO you have any evidence for this suspicion or are you just having a gripe. SotG's release date has never moved and all indications to date (the product listing with distributors and the previews) are that it will be met

    PC Survival in Star Wars

I thought you said you were finding it very easy to hit people at low levels? Depends on the distance. As ranges on ranged weapons have increased considerably, you can use them effectively at distance. Short range is now 30m for a pistol and 45m for a rifle. I have a PC in my game who can...

    PC Survival in Star Wars

BTW bonuses to damage mean a lot less in SWSE as weapons do so much damage anyway and everyone gets a bonus to damage from going up levels. As such, your Str bonus to damage is not that great an advantage. Sneak Attack also is less effective in SWSE than in D&D as no one starts flat footed in...

    PC Survival in Star Wars

Given the "gun heavy" and "mobile" nature of SW combat and assuming that you rely only on melee weapons, it is going to be tough going for this PC. I wouldn't be surprised to see this PC on the deck quite a few times unless played carefully. When outside of melee use all the cover you can and...

    Star Wars battlemaps

Yes, it is a double sided space map of the correct scale for the RPG. One of the short sides shows a planet (I think it is Coruscant on one side and Tatooine on the other).

    PC Survival in Star Wars

YMMV :) We found that 1 shot from a blaster rifle is likely to pretty much take out a 1st level PC without removing him from play. A blaster rifle averages 14 points of damage (not taking into account criticals) and a 1st level Scoundrel has 18 HP. We liked this balance a lot as it made us fear...

    PC Survival in Star Wars

*sigh* How did I know this thread would end up reverting to the age-old HP argument. :(

    PC Survival in Star Wars

Though Stormtroopers do go down with one shot, groups of 4 or so will still threaten 1st level PCs. On saying that the low level fights we have had have emulated the movies very well. As a quick Scoundrel, were you shooting around corners (+5 Ref Def for cover) and ducking an weaving (+5 Ref...

Monte's World of Darkness - magic system?

I highly recommend the book. The magic system is well thought out. It is a free form point based system without being too complex. It has some nice built in checks and balances that remove most of the potential for abuse. Also, there are enough rotes/spells in the book to pretty much limit the...

    Star Wars battlemaps

You may be able to find maps by themselves off eBay but it is quite rare. I suggest: 1. Get the ATST set. Its cheap and you get 4 battle maps (though one is also in the SW rule book). Each starter has only one and the Ultimate Mission Books have 2. 2. Check out Cafepress. There are a number...

    Star Wars Saga

    - or the attack result is less than 10, then the grenade even fails to make it to the square. If you get a -10 to range, that means to get any result you need to roll an attack result of 20, before range penalty.

    d20 CoC and d20 WoD

Yep. I turn more to d20 CoC than d20 Modern for MCWoD resources as mechanically they are actually a better fit. As to human PCs, keep them as they are in d20 CoC. MCWoD PCs are uber powerful supernatural entities. The +2 or so bonus to attack and defence and extra HP make sense.

Given a decent interest for DragonFist, which has subsequently fallen over, I would say yes.

    Monte Cook's WoD--we'll be playing

The magic system is being praised very highly and a number of people are considering using it as a basis for magic in other d20 games. It sounds partially freeform in that you can construct variations to certain spell efects. It seems almost 100% compatible to most d20 products. There are a...

    Monte Cook's WoD--we'll be playing

A request has gone out to Luke Johnson (the developer) by email. However, WW are moving offices and their online material is running behind.
