D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Heh, I remember I was playing a Paladin in a party with an Artificer who was only in it for the money - when we got a big financial reward for saving a bunch of people, I took my share of the reward and donated it to a refugee charity right in front of him just to see his reaction.

Warrior of the Elements is better at shoving than Warrior of the Hand, because they shove 10ft on every Unarmed Strike, not just Flurries, plus they're shoving from range.

Yeah, it's pretty outdated - a lot of the Expert UA feats aren't compatible any more. I'm mainly thinking for playtesting purposes. Yeah, I'm thinking Alert, Lucky, and Tough are where it's at.

Oh, that would be nice. But it's not there.

Hey, here's a Monk question: what's a good choice for your level 1 feat? I've found myself defaulting to Magic Initiate with a lot of other One D&D builds I've been doing, but I feel like Cantrips don't work well with the Monk's action economy. Can't take any of the Fighting Style feats because...

To be fair, the Shadow Monk has been teleporting since level 6...

D&D 5E (2024) Weapon masteries should really be linked to weapon properties, not to specific weapons!

Even the golf-baggiest fighter would be rocking six at most, tho.

Ah, I had thought it was number of attacks per monster, and I knew that couldn’t be right.

Yeah, that’s not how much even a lot of weapons weighs. Not my fault the equipment tables are wrong.

I don’t understand the scale on the Y axis here. Can you clarify, please?

This. I feel like a lot of these criticisms of Weapon Mastery ignore or overlook what the system is designed to do. Golf bag is not a bug, it’s a feature.

Ok, that clears things up considerably. I think this reddit thread might help.

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Ok, then why post it as a reply to me, when that's not what I was discussing? While it's true that 1e drew heavily on the medieval Church, it wasn't the only ingredient in the mix: they very explicitly were borrowing from Leiber and Moorcock and Lovecraft and anyone else they thought was cool...

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

Ok, how is this relevant to whether D&D novels are keen on Clerics?

D&D 5E (2024) The Cleric should be retired

There's all kinds of Clerics in that series, some good and some bad, but the series is really focused on what it means to be a Cleric and how Clerics' relationships with their deities change and grow over time. So no, I don't it counts at all.

There was a whole Cleric Quintet by R.A Salvatore.

I think Slow Fall also counts as an exploration feature, for when there are pit traps or collapsing floors or a bridge gives out, or just traversing downwards fast in a pinch. Likewise, Unarmored Movement (plus good Dex and Wis skills) makes the Monk a cromulent scout - not as good at wilderness...

Let me give an example. A Rogue/Monk can use Dagger for their Attack Action (and eventually Extra Attack), then use the Hand Crossbow for their Nick Attack, then Bonus Action Unarmed Attack or one of your defensive options. Crossbow Expert means that the Nick Attack gets +Dex mod, means that...
