ICv2 Reports Disappointing Year For Hobby Games Channel: TTRPGs Down, D&D Declines 30%

Not too surprising. Despite all the hyperventilating about this not being a new edition, the market is still showing the traditional inter-edition sales slump.

    D&D 5E (2024) Here's The New 2024 Player's Handbook Wizard Art

And there's going to be separate art for the Evoker, Diviner, Illusionist and Abjurer as well!

AI is stealing writers’ words and jobs…

Did it include Forest Gnomes? For whatever reason, those aren't in the SRD.

What Non-D&D TSR RPGs Needs to be Revived?

I don't want to be a downer, but I doubt we'll ever see a RPG that's mechanically distinct from D&D produced by WotC ever again. As for settings, we might see some of those if they can be framed as a supplement to your D&D game. There're just not going to put resources into an entirely new game...

D&D 5E (2014) Quest From The Infinite Staircase Adventures Revealed

I've always liked the idea of a rivalry between these two, like the tero and dero in the original Shaver Mystery.

D&D General The D&D Cartoon is set in Faerun since when?

But remember y'all, the Forgotten Realms isn't the default setting! :p Edit: I remember some talk from the creative team about turning Venger into a Red Wizard of Thay, so this is probably part of the set up for that.

D&D 5E (2024) No Dwarf, Halfling, and Orc suborgins, lineages, and legacies

Those are the ones I use in my homebrew setting, plus Elves as elemental wood and Dwarves as elemental metal. I also have a catch-all group of sapient animals (think Narnia, not Zootopia) called Bremyn.

Gate Pass Gazette Issue #25 includes something unexpected!

Really enjoyed the Artificer article. The Wandmaker is solid. The Arcano-Pugilist is a neat idea. The only thing I'd change is that I'd rename all the abilities with "PugiTek" to "Sweet Science". :giggle: The Botanotechnician is nice. More outside the box Artificer archetypes would be great!

Launch of gaming news site, Rascal

I subscribe to a site that went to a pay-to-post model. They let things go that they wouldn't have before because every post has a paying customer behind it now.

D&D 5E (2024) No Dwarf, Halfling, and Orc suborgins, lineages, and legacies

For the heartbreaker I've been working on, I've been thinking about just getting rid of the ability scores. I'd roll the math into proficiency bonus, and everything else ability scores do would go into a background based skill system.

D&D General The Resurrection of Mike Mearls Games.

It's interesting. His "Odyssey Engine" class design is going in a different direction than I'm currently interested in, but I'm on board with replacing skills with backgrounds. In fact, I've been toying with folding what abilities scores do into backgrounds as well.

D&D General What devil would most want to make trouble in the Radiant Citadel?

Yeah, it could have just been ignorance, rather than malice. That said, "God has healed" is an odd name for a devil.

D&D General What devil would most want to make trouble in the Radiant Citadel?

Just googled it. Well... that's gross and disrespectful.

D&D 5E (2024) No Dwarf, Halfling, and Orc suborgins, lineages, and legacies

Oh, I expect that the Deep Gnome will get reprinted in some form at least a couple more times. It's a 5e tradition!

D&D General Tell me of "PHB" classes of prior eras!

Yes, but it had been renamed the Wokan (plural Wokani) by then.
