D&D General Muscular Neutrality (thought experiment)

I could see a muscular neutral organization whose goal is to enforce a sort of neutral zone between the warring forces of good and evil. Kind of like peacekeepers who exert their influence when a conflict is boiling to the point of devastation of people and/or nature. So then if this is a...

I guess I took it that way. Could just be that those sorts of comments are all blending into the same thing for me. I also lost interest at that part of the post. I get this is just posting on a forum but if a product were advertised like that I would instantly not be interested.

Is this not what that term means? A mechanic around motivations could have been explained without first pausing to greatly disparage alignment. Telling people the thing they like is terrible isn't going to do anything and the people who think the thing is terrible already have that position.

This is completely aside from your point but I was curious so I looked it up. Apparently Final Fantasy X has sold the most copies and some consider it to be the most popular. I would have thought VI would be the one with the most fond nostalgia. It is usually between VI and Chrono Trigger for...

D&D General Dark Sun as a Hopepunk Setting

It still is very much in 2024 both for character creation and in the cosmology. I just don't see the need to yuck people's yum in this regard. I like it and it is tiring when people say that it is either useless or a hindrance to a good game.

Have we? I love alignment and so do a lot of others.

D&D General Dark Sun as a Hopepunk Setting

There is a lot of media where the point is to show how the protagonist is a troubled man who suffers because of his toxic traits but what people takeaway from it is that he is a super cool badass. Even if the intent is clear and understood. That is still the imagery of what is on the screen...

D&D General Just sweeping dirty dishes under the rug: D&D, Sexism, and the '70s

You aren't likely to see people marching through the street with Nazi flags because they will get arrested.

Yeah. I'm in Canada and I'm very happy with our laws forbidding hate speech. Some speech must be forbidden. Utter threats and conspiracy are examples of expressing oneself that should not be allowed. "Hate speech" is both uttering threats and incitement to violence and so it should not be...

The best solution to this sort of problem is to hire writers who are from those cultures and communities to do the writing.

It is a fantastic movie. But also why did they just have to put in that he had a relationship with her when she was 15ish and he was 25ish AND was her father's student so presumably had some privileged position over her.

While yes, I am compelled to clarify that capitalism and commerce aren't the same thing. Commerce is selling things. Capitalism is utilizing capital to exploit workers for the value of their labour.

Important to mention the other noble truths if bringing up the first one. The third one contradicts your interpretation that it is necessary as there is a path to the cessation of suffering. The 2nd is that suffering is not caused by hurtful things but by attachment. Buddhism is not neutral...

    D&D 5E (2024) 3 Months in - Weapon Mastery

For your situation Rogues are already expected to get adv. each turn. That was previously for 1 attack and used your bonus action so now that isn't needed. I've noticed in 2024 there are a lot of ways to get adv. (as well as move enemies) so I expect them to actually overlap quite a bit. If...

Yeah. The Matrix might be the best example of this. There is absolutely 0 chance they would have been able to make that movie if they were out at the time. That was true in 1999 and still true today*. And even though they did get the movie made they still had to remove the only openly trans...

Not true. We have examples of it in the 9 alignment system. The Lady of Pain is case in point.

I don't think they will. Valor Bard and War Cleric didn't get it which I take as a firm design decision to keep it away from full casters. I could see a weapon focused Monk subclass getting it but only because they aren't full casters. I also don't think they will be starved enough for ideas...

They're either going to have it for multiple classes or not at all. It would be bad design to introduce this complex mechanic and have it apply to only fighters and for little to no benefit.
