    D&D 5E (2014) Is a CR 30 monster a suitable challenge for a 20th level party?

I think Moderate is essentially: Not life-threatening, but will cost the party some resources, whether that be Hit Dice, Ki points, Spell Slots, etc. By themselves they aren't anything terrifying, but they play an important part of the "Adventuring Day".

    D&D 5E (2014) 1001 Christmas Trinkets

    24. An embarrassing knitted sweater that you must constantly wear over your armour to show a loved one how much you like it. Honestly, it's exactly what you wanted.

    D&D 5E (2014) 2nd Trivia Quiz on 5e Dungeons&Dragons

I get that. The point could also be made that a 'ranged attack roll' and a 'ranged spell attack' are different things. Then again, you could argue that some training crosses over between the two disciplines. I think it's written loosely enough that a DM could rule either way. I'd go with...

    D&D 5E (2014) 1001 Christmas Trinkets

    2) Shrunken Goblin-head ornaments, when hung from any tree branch they sing season-appropriate songs in goblin. Multiple heads recommended to create a richer harmony.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is a CR 30 monster a suitable challenge for a 20th level party?

The basic theory states that a CR 30 monster is a moderate difficulty for four level 30 PCs. So the typical answer for a group of level 20 PCs would be no... However. That difficulty is going to be affected by several factors, some of which have been mentioned. Larger Party size. Magic Items...

    D&D 5E (2014) 2nd Trivia Quiz on 5e Dungeons&Dragons

The second part of Crossbow expert specifies "Ranged attack roll" and doesn't mention any weapons. Interpret it how you will, I'm just trying to clarify. I got 8/10, and agree with the things I got wrong. Switching out cantrips and stacking spell distance bonuses.

D&D 5E (2014) Signs that you've been adventuring too long

    14. Powerful demons keep attempting to summon and bind you. (Unsuccessfully). 15. You grant your god a portion of your power in the form of divine spells that can be cast a certain number of times per day.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monk weapon damage

Just to expand on this a bit, it means you'll tend to use the Weapon's damage die until you reach a level where your Martial Arts damage die is bigger. (It goes to 1d6 at 5th, and 1d8 at 11th) The enhanced damage will still benefit all your free Unarmed Strikes, which would otherwise deal 1...

D&D 5E (2014) Classes that pleasantly surprised you

I've been really impressed with the 5e Cleric. With all the wildly different domains available it can fit a lot of different concepts. They're definitely not the "required" character that no one wants to play, as they have been in the past.

D&D 5E (2014) Tavern brawler, Greenflame blade, and booming blade....

The cantrips require a 'Melee attack with a weapon' which means that they can't be unarmed attacks. Improvised weapons are fine though.

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolves/rats and damage immunity

So what you're saying is that we need to forget the rope completely and choke that wererat with our BARE HANDS!! Nice.

    D&D 5E (2014) Werewolves/rats and damage immunity

If the goal of the encounter isn't simply to 'kill the wererat' then this could make for an interesting learning experience for the characters. If they come up against a single wererat early on in their adventures and learn about its resistances they will know to prepare themselves should they...

D&D 5E (2014) The Joy of Wild Sorcery - Post your amazing surge stories here!

I'm the DM for my group. Our sorc's first big surge was against a queen ankheg (Young black dragon) when the party was 3rd level. First round of combat she hits it with a scorching ray and rolls the wild magic surge that adds a 5th level Magic Missile to her attack. The rest of the party was...

    D&D 5E (2014) Collaborative adventure creation?

As far as world-building goes, I've had success using the game Microscope to let the whole group contribute. Just be prepared for some real curve-balls. I really enjoy it though, because it sparkes a lot of new ideas that I definitely wouldn't come up with by myself.

    D&D 5E (2014) Monk's Catch Missile Ability

Magic arrows, I would absolutely keep any weird damage types and any +X bonus. Thrown flask? I'm not so sure. The item entry says it shatters on impact... I'd probably allow the Monk to catch it and throw it back, but the damage would be the typical 1d4 per turn. I don't think that being a...

D&D 5E (2014) How much space (pages) does a spell use up in a Wizard's spellbook in 5th edition?

I got a bit bored and did some calculations (basic addition). At one page per spell level a lvl 20 wizard who doesn't acquire anything via scrolls, only free level-up spells, will need 220 pages. A little over 2x the 100 page limit from the spellbook description. They'll need to get a second...

D&D 5E (2014) The Ultimate Guide to Helping Your Players Role Play

I would class it as blocking because an action has been taken by the rogue (Get close to the king and pick his pocket) and only then does the cleric try to intervene. Effectively cancelling the action and stalling the game. Now, if the cleric knows that the rogue is prone to things like this...

    D&D 5E (2014) Optimizing a BladeSinger

That's correct. The cantrips require you to hit with a melee attack (and grant the usual effects of that attack), but you're still using your action to Cast a Spell. This may be where people are getting the idea that you can't TWF as a Bladesinger. If you're spamming these cantrips, as one would...
