(5.24 PBP) Vault of the Dracolich (IC) Redux

Team Infiltrate! As the portcullis crashed down, it looked for a moment like the fanatic cultist elf, with his mouth twisted by his dragon-breath spell, would attempt to slide under before it fully closed, but either he was too late, or thought better of it at the last moment. Instead, he...

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

When the sound was pointed out to Stratus, he headed directly for the sarcophagus, intending to hold the lid down if he reached it in time.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Why is that? But all that, plus an adventure (or several short ones) with a chapter at the beginning on advice for DMing DS - all of that IS a Dark Sun sourcebook for DMs. Again, I think the format they are using for the upcoming FR Books is basically ideal.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Yeah. I agree. While I have very strong feelings on how excluding options helps to give a setting its identity (I'm all for it) - the specific options that are excluded don't need to be the same as they once were. And DS's alterations to the usual cultures for various species does as much to...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Seems to me that they will likely use the upcoming Forgotten Realms books format. One for players, one for DMs. I can't imagine how it wouldn't be obvious to everyone that it is a superior format to the Spelljammer and Planescape slipcases.

5.24e's "inflexibility' with Backgrounds is only as inflexible as your DM.

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Hang in there gang. I don't want to lose momentum, but I have had no weekend with this move. Turns out that it took full days work on both my days off this weekend. (For me, that's Sun/Mon). I might not get to it today, but I will try. There's still groceries and other weekend jobs to do, on top...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

As a fan, I can't seem to wait, but a FLGS retailer, I'm 110% with you. It's a real problem these days, that we're always talking about two, three books down the line, and rarely as much about the one coming up SOON. I honestly think that the comic book industry, bad as it's always been run, had...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

We were never denying that the Gods are Silent. What was at dispute, was whether or not: 1) It was the absolute biggest theme. And 2) The gods being silent was the cause of the world being nasty.

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

Iy probably will, when it comes to the whoke day, but maybe not when it comes to perfection with any crossovers. There's another way we can imagine it: A rest may move the time-stamp by an hour, but that's a game thing. In the reality of the world, any given sit-down usually lasts until...

    (IC) Dog Days of Doom!

"If it was what this tomb-robber follower of Mask was after," said Stratus, while indicating the direction of the hidden stairs, "Then this way is likely a treasure vault. But WE are not here for treasure. We are here to light the beacon. Which way should we go to get that done?" He asked the...

Stratus shrugged. "Won't come out, biy something moved. We might want to check what that was."

(5.24 PBP) Vault Redux (OOC) Fitz's Refresher

I suggest that we don't think too hard about the timing. We should use it to track durations but not sweat how it lines up. Maybe something timey-wimey is happening, maybe the others took longer doing stuff than I allotted in their time-stamp, maybe it will work out later. IDK, but if you show...

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

It's not even "No Slot/Magic Action" as a limited resource, is it? At-Will? And the Improved Familiars are pretty solid, AND can actually Attack (which normal familiars can't, like AT ALL, even with their feeble attack abilities). As far as I can tell, it's only drawback is that they don't...

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Sure, but we don't know how WotC is going to present Dark Sun this time around, we're just speculating. I understand (and even agree to a certain extent) that we can expect WotC to screw it up somehow, but I don't think that we can predict the exact ways that it will happen yet. Not even when...

(OOC) The Dog Days of Doom

Yeah, the stuff about how longer casting times are a Magic Action each round until complete is just trying to let you know what's happening when you cast something with a longer casting time. I don't think that it applies here. Seventy Minutes as a ritual. It's "Casting Time PLUS 10 minutes" to...

We're really into the weeds now. Look, I'm sorry I said anything, all right? It was a waste of all our times.

Dungeons & Dragons Releases New Unearthed Arcana Subclasses, Strongly Hinting at Dark Sun

Maybe for PCs. (Maybe not, as we haven't actually seen anything "for real" yet). But I have to admit - I don't really care, as I doubt that I would ever allow (with the caveat of discussion with my players over what kind of story they want to tell) anyone to play a "Wizard" in a Dark Sun game...
