D&D 5E (2014) What is balance to you, and why do you care (or don't)?

The base Barb doesn't really get a lot of choices in terms of what they get, but I guess they do have a little bit more complexity since Rages run out so easily.

Make the Champion a Barbarian subclass.

D&D General Travel In Medieval Europe

If everyone is following some random encounter tables I've seen, I can see why no one takes a step out of their villages.

Use Magic Device is the 13th level feature of the Rogue's Thief subclass.

You just can't escape the magic, man.

Just checking it, the only ones for noncasters that I can find are the Dragonhide Belts for Monks, all the casters seem to have one.

D&D 5E (2014) What is balance to you, and why do you care (or don't)?

There are items that are, "Requires attunement by X class". There's for Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Druid, Cleric, Bard and Paladin, I think. Don't recall any for Fighter or Barb, but you could make those pretty easily.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells you house rule?

Worth noting that Guidance is also available to Artificers, Druids and some Warlocks, so it doesn't have to be prayer related as well.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells you house rule?

It's concentration, so you'd need to choose 1 person to keep casting it on, probably just on yourself. I could see people keeping it up at all times just in case, it stops other concentration effects, and will be very noisy, and people will be looking weird at them, so it prob balances it out.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells you house rule?

Tbf, if I had the superpower of making people better at anything, I'd sure as hell be using it all the time. OT: Simulacrum, gotta rule that it can only be healed by the alchemical lab thingy that the spell specifies, so it can't just take a rest and regain hp. Maybe specify that it can't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells you house rule?

I've DM'd a Sorcadin with 26 AC base, 31 with Shield, nothing can phase me anymore.

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells you house rule?

Shield seems to be made on the assumption that the users will have low AC, just to compensate, but since there's no real limit to casting on armor besides proficiency, a Wizard can go Cleric 1 and have 20 AC base with Plate and a Shield, 25 with the Shield spell. Or without multiclassing, take a...

    D&D 5E (2014) Spells you house rule?

Many, many, official monsters have pretty much no ranged attacks, so the idea is usually to just walk away and shoot them to death, or cast a spell inside like Sickening Radiance so they die without fighting back.

This shows well what should happen between Batman and Supes. If he knows there's Kryptonite, no reason to give Bruce a chance. Seems a bit off topic though.

D&D General Orcs on Stairs (When Adventures Are Incomplete)

In Storm King's Thunder, a village is attacked by cloud giants who are there to steal a magic stone. The adventure starts by the PCs arriving there, learning about everything, and helping to save the villagers who fled the place and are in trouble somewhere else. When I was playing it, the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Saving Throws as Reactions (+)

I don't think this can work when save or suck effects exist. Say, you have a wizard and a bard fighting a group of enemies, wizard casts hypnotic pattern, they use their reactions to save, then bard casts the same spell, now they're out of reactions and auto-fail, winning the encounter. Or...

    D&D 5E (2014) Adding Racial/Lineage Traits That Feel Meaningful [+]

The Halfling's luck, I'd make it something like: "Your luck can turn your worst failures into your most amazing successes. Whenever you roll 1 on a d20 roll, you can treat it as a 20 instead." Way stronger than the normal one, but I think it does make them actually feel lucky since it avoids a...

D&D 5E (2014) As a DM cleric spells to watch out for in 5e?

In my experience, it's more that the check is asked, they roll, fail, then ask for Guidance. If they're managing to shout it before anyone rolls, just let them, then the world can react to the weird dude casting spells on his friends every 30 seconds. It's also a cantrip, so very reasonable to...

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

Reminds me of a giant statue in SKT, the lifting rules would mean it can lift slightly more than 1 ton, but in the module it just stops a rolling boulder that should weight about 2500 tons.
