D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

I was gonna say he's very clearly a lizardman in disguise, but even they can only hold it for 15 minutes, so he really got me beat there.

D&D 5E (2014) What Does a Strength 20 Look Like (In Real Life)?

Mike Powell could have a feature similar to Step of the Wind, that doubles jumping distance. Bjornsson probably has the Powerful Build feature, so around 19 strength makes sense.

    D&D 5E (2014) A simple houserule for martial/caster balance.

Well, in DC last I checked, superheroes are the multiverse's antibodies against the Darkness' invasion, and Batman & Superman specifically have some cosmic significance, or something like that. It's meta as hell. Maybe Fighter can be amped by being in the original quartet.

D&D 5E (2014) Player angry about enemies climbing rope with Rope Trick

Well, technically, you need the whole hour for a short rest, and they'd spend some time climbing the rope and killing the Ranger, so it should end just a bit before the rest ends, they'd fall with no regained HP. In any case, it's not unreasonable to know the spell, it could be a high magic...

D&D 5E (2014) Player angry about enemies climbing rope with Rope Trick

It's more for them waiting up there for an hour and short resting, pretty risky if they don't know how it actually works.

D&D 5E (2014) Player angry about enemies climbing rope with Rope Trick

The official rule to identify a spell in Xanathar's is DC 15 + spell level, so 17. Hard for an orc with that -2 Int, but that DC always seemed too high to me.

D&D 5E (2014) Player angry about enemies climbing rope with Rope Trick

Well, it seems like a pretty obvious thing to happen, the Ranger obviously knows how his spell works, just has to read it, nothing says enemies can't follow you. I'd usually just say they know about spells 3rd level or below, as long as the PC is familiar with magic or is well educated in...

D&D 5E (2014) Player angry about enemies climbing rope with Rope Trick

The orcs can just know what the spell is as well, it's 2nd level, not some super rare thing.

D&D General Why Fantasy? Goin' Medieval in D&D

From skimming some Forgotten Realms modules and wiki pages, I think I can safely say that 20% of the population are polymorphed Ancient Dragons, 30% are Archmages, and the rest are Zentharim. No wonder no one wants to show the bad stuff, the players are screwed if they try to fight anyone.

D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

There's some pretty ridiculous stuff in the game, like characters being able to survive the Scroll of the Comet, basically a small nuke, and survive being bitten by moon-sized monsters, which is more what'd you expect comic Thor or Hulk to do. They can also die to much, much weaker things, so...

D&D General Poll: How tough should 20th Level Fighters be? (MCU edition)

I think the poll is more about power-level then aesthetics. Level 20 Fighters are really impressive in regards to dishing out and taking damage, but in, like, lifting capacity, speed, throwing stuff/people around, etc, they're way worse than Cap, much less Thor.

D&D General What’s The Big Deal About Psionics?

Well, it's just that it wouldn't work in that case, there's a lot of magic that isn't dispellable already. Anti-Magic Field would make more sense since that one does block magic in general. I do absolutely loathe the way magic is treated in the game, that pretty much everything is magic, but...

D&D General What’s The Big Deal About Psionics?

Dispel Magic doesn't really dispel magic, just the specific application of magic that is spells. There's a bunch of magic stuff in the game that it can't dispel already. I guess Dispel Spell would sound weird.

Dragonlance DRAGONLANCE LIVES! Unearthed Arcana Explores Heroes of Krynn!

Zone of Truth is particularly awful, since by not forcing them to speak, the next logical step is just starting the waterboarding since they can't lie to you anyway, that's usually the practical problem with torture.

M.A.R. Barker, author of Tekumel, also author of Neo-Nazi book?

You can definitely try to marry off a PC against their will, or steal all their property, or try to force them into slavery, the issue is that they're highly armed individuals who'll definitely murder anyone who tries unless they're completely outmatched. Reading some discussions about it, a lot...

D&D 5E (2014) The Next D&D Book is JOURNEYS THROUGH THE RADIANT CITADEL

From what I can tell, not having a soul just means they don't have some spiritual thingy on them that'll lead their consciousness into an afterlife after death, their mind is just their brain/mist/whatever and doesn't persist after death. What I really don't get is why have them when people's...

The meme is that all adventuring parties will at some point: kill the king/emperor/nobility, then try to kill god/the gods.
