D&D General Why the resistance to D&D being a game?

Yeah, it's not a very balanced book, epic Ranger was just sad. Some cool ideas though.

D&D General Why the resistance to D&D being a game?

My DM was planning on using this epic level homebrew book for 5e, one of the level 30 Mythic features was doing super Hulk jumps for many miles, was pretty cool. The casters got a spell to create a whole universe at the same level, but ya get what you can.

Grade the Pathfinder 2E Game System

Some skill feats can be insanely impactful, like a lot of the medicine ones (Battle Medicine, Ward Medic, Continual Recovery), Titan Wrestler, Scare to Death, etc. I do agree a lot are basically pointless though.

D&D General Why the resistance to D&D being a game?

The unarmed fighting style lets you deal d8 damage if you're not wielding weapons or a shield, so your punches are about as deadly as a longsword, rapier or longbow. I doubt even the strongest men alive could just take on a lion with their bare hands, much less other beasts a fighter would be...

D&D General When the fiction doesn't match the mechanics

Not D&D, but I've been playing this game called Fleaux!, dark fantasy type with light rules. It's fun, but I think there's definitely a dissonance between the fiction the game wants for the characters and what the mechanics give. For example, the text just at the start: The characters were all...

D&D General Why the resistance to D&D being a game?

That I recall using magic off the top of my head: Anuir, Elves, Humans descended from elves, wildshaping Humans like Beorn, Dragons, maybe Dwarves and Orcs since they have spells in their languages, Tom Bombadil and Ungolianth (whatever they are). People aren't slinging fireballs like in D&D...

D&D General Why the resistance to D&D being a game?

For the LoTR magic stuff, there was the duel between Sauron and Finrod, showing both can use song magic: I believe Finrod also had an illusion spell he used on Beren, Sauron could create illusions as well, and Lúthien did something similar along with her very op sleeping magic. Eldrond I think...

D&D General Why the resistance to D&D being a game?

Sauron and Finrod were magically fighting by singing, so I'd say Tolkien's spellcasters are all Bards.

    WORST Comics Storyline

Been a while, but it was mostly how people reacted to Superman's actions in the beginning. Completely reasonable things like getting the villains out of the cardboard prison that is Arkham, telling nations to stop wars, wiping out the giant army of mindless demons about to kill countless people...

    WORST Comics Storyline

I haven't read many comics, but I'd throw in the Injustice prequels to the game.

Grade the Pathfinder 2E Game System

I like it a lot, lots of good options for characters even outside of classes, more stuff to do in combat, an intuitive action system, mostly no super overpowered stuff (damn you, wood Kineticist), etc. My main issues are mostly stuff that you can fix well enough with the rules given, like...

D&D 5E (2024) Half Race Appreciation Society: Half Elf most popular race choice in BG3

In my first campaign we were all mostly new players, and our character's races were half-orc, wood elf, half-elf and aasimar. Once there was a bit of a TPK and we brought in new characters after we had more knowledge of the game, we had variant human, variant human, variant human and a homebrew...

D&D 5E (2014) What are the "True Issues" with 5e?

In GoT, people see an young dragon and flee in terror since it's basically unkillable (until they got the snipe plot ballistas). In D&D, you can fight swarms of them by level 10.

D&D 4E Ben Riggs' "What the Heck Happened with 4th Edition?" seminar at Gen Con 2023

In 5e, a 50 kg Rogue can hold a rhinocerous in place against its will with one hand. Grapple and trip don't do well with physics.

    D&D 5E (2024) Treantmonk's Overall Reaction to UA 6

He regularly jokes at the beginning of is videos that ridiculous things will happen if you don't subscribe to him, it's not serious. Edit: For example.

WTF is "cold iron", and why's it so special?

Is anything even natural in a D&D world, with most things being created deliberately by some wizard/god?

D&D 5E (2014) I think Wizards balances classes using damage on a single target nova over 3 rounds.

In my first D&D game the DM allowed a book with weapon upgrades we could buy, so everyone was running around with weapons that crit on a 19, wasn't too crazy, crits aren't all that most of the time.

D&D 5E (2014) I think Wizards balances classes using damage on a single target nova over 3 rounds.

The current Fighter is superhuman, but mostly so through the general game mechanics, not anything the class does in particular. Anyone can grapple a rhinocerous, or kill a building sized lizard with a sharp stick, or survive a nuke-meteor to the face, it's just how grappling, attacks and HP work...

D&D 5E (2014) I think Wizards balances classes using damage on a single target nova over 3 rounds.

I propose WoTC makes a different class for every synonym of the word Fighter, so everyone can get what they want.
