D&D 5E (2024) Why is wotc still aiming for PCs with 10 *real word* feet of range? W/o vision range penalty/limit rules for the GM?

Yeah, over the years I've grown to not like bounded accuracy as much, advantage/disadvantage only gets you so far.

D&D 5E (2024) Why is wotc still aiming for PCs with 10 *real word* feet of range? W/o vision range penalty/limit rules for the GM?

I've recently had an encounter starting at 900 feet away in Pathfinder 2e, a gunslinger shooting a drake as it approached, and the Ranger & Investigator joining in when it got within 300 feet. They had six rounds worth of bullets flying at the drake, plus some 2 rounds of arrows, but every...

    D&D 5E (2024) 4/26 Playtest: The Fighter

The Fighter in 5e is definitely magical in many ways, it's just the system in general doing it, not the Fighter class, like being super durable, damaging very durable things, healing very fast, and being able to grapple a Rhinocerous in place at level 1 with a single hand. You could add more...

The Rogue just sneaked in from Pathfinder.

D&D General Fighting Law and Order

What is a murderhobo can vary from person to person, on r/dndmemes a while ago there was a lot of debate about parties killing kings and nobles for the lulz and whether it'd be morally wrong since feudalism isn't the nicest of systems around.

D&D 5E (2014) High-level wizard taking about an hour to change one spell?

    Looking over my level 18 Wizard, he has these prepared per level: 1st: 3 2nd: 3 3rd: 6 4th: 3 5th: 2 6th: 1 7th: 2 8th: 1 9th: 2 1*3+2*3+3*6+4*3+5*2+6*1+7*2+8*1+9*2 = 95 minutes to prepare all that. Roughly an hour and a half extra each day if he's always swapping spells.

Really looking forward to the new Michael Keaton Batman film coming out next month.

Really cool to see Keaton as Batman again. And also that Barney Alien guy or whatever . . .

D&D 5E (2024) What spells should be dropped?

If you look at the spellcasting rules, it explains it: So it's a cube where each side is 150 feet wide. It's a pretty decent spell.

    D&D 5E (2014) Halflings are the 7th most popular 5e race

I've found the 5e Goliath with Tasha's ability score changing rules to be pretty good for casters, the Stone's Endurance saved my Wizard's life many times during the low levels.

I shall keep an eye on r/rpghorrorstories for the player's side of things and will post it here if I see it, stay tuned.

    D&D 5E (2014) Halflings are the 7th most popular 5e race

If you take the Crossbow Expert feat, you can stay at the front shooting without disadvantage if the party needs someone to take the melee hits. Not ideal, but it works out fine after you can take the feat. Until then, I guess just grab a Rapier when the monsters get close. Edit: At lower...

    D&D 5E (2014) Halflings are the 7th most popular 5e race

One big advantage of Halflings as well: they're the most overpowered race in the game if the DM is using fumble tables. You'll be vibin' while all your party members are tripping on their own feet and breaking their swords into rocks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Halflings are the 7th most popular 5e race

Archery is probably the best Fighting Style, helps a lot with the Sharpshooter power attack. I'd say a ranged Fighter is usually better than melee, they just have slightly lower AC and can't do attack of oppurtunity as well, but the ranged advantages outstrip the melee ones most of the time.

WotC Anyone Else Tired of the Wizards Bashing?

I'm surely not tired of these threads, I'll tell you that. 🍿

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

I feel like even if that did happen, the agents involved wouldn't be too keen on reporting the details.

D&D 5E (2024) Armor in the AC part of statblock

Players can ambush sleeping enemies who are not wearing their usual armor, or mind control them and make them remove their shield, or cast Heat Metal, or cast Shocking Grasp that has advantage if the target wears metal armor, or Dispel Magic if it's a Mage Armor, etc.

D&D 5E (2024) People called me a troll but I called it that they were gonna Buff the Wizard

Wizards also get to have 1st and 2nd level spells at-will earlier now, so by level 15 you can add 5 modifications to a spell using an 8th level slot and 2k gp at most, then cast them like a cantrip.
