I think you missed the part where they said the backgrounds provided are just examples, and they tell you exactly how to create your own. So you can improve whatever stats you want, and get proficiencies in the skills you want, etc.

Those are the kinds of hoops authors have to jump thru each time there is a new edition of the game, and new races and classes are introduced, or other changes like that are introduced.

I bought it, and I love it. Could it use more content? yes, sure... but I have everything I need to fill the gaps, including: my 2e books, Ghosts of Saltmarsh, and etc. Started playing the adventure via AL, and the first 2 chapters were a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the rest.

The 3.5 Dragonlance books didn't break tradition. However the world changed a lot in the decades following the War of the Lance, when the gods left again, which allowed sorcerers and mystics to appear. The races didn't change much, except we got chromatic draconians, and afflicted kenders.

These worlds have history, and its races have history, there are explanations in its chronicles of which gods created which races (or large magical events), and etc. You can't suddenly say: oh there is a bunch of X over here that no one noticed before. Sure, Spelljammer opens the possibility of...

I played the first two chapters yesterday. The DM said the first chapters are a bit light. so I'm not sure how long it's going to take to complete. At the current pace 6 sessions total, but that seem unrealistic to maintain. I'm sorry for not reading your posts but I don't want it spoiled for me.

I'm very curious about the Soth connection. I'm sure there is at least an explanation. How good that explanation is going to be is TBD, but I have kept my copy of World of Krynn for 30 years, and never fought Soth or used it as a main villain. I wouldn't mind an opportunity to do either.

I did this for a monster. It jumped back in the lake and I gave him a save. The player didn't appreciate it.
