D&D 5E (2014) Chronicles of Eberron Is Keith Baker's New D&D Book, out now!

I’ve got a similar problem, so I sympathize with you. I really like Eberron (my third favorite setting after Dark Sun and Mystara) but two of my players don’t. The first thinks Eberron would be a better setting if it were actually steampunk. The second says that everything he likes about...

D&D General Do you like LOTS of races/ancestries/whatever? If so, why?

The longer I play D&D, the more I prefer what my dad refers to as “curated” settings; that is to say, settings (homebrew or otherwise) where the DM limits the number of playable species, because said DM is going for a specific look/feel/flavor/genre/theme/etc with their campaign. Not sure why...

    Humorous disclaimer?

Dragonlance Dragonlance Shadow of the Dragon Queen shows up in the wild!

Sounds like they are going for a sort of Roman Empire fortifications-in the Middle Ages-flavor with Kalaman. I like it.

Dragonlance Dragonlance Shadow of the Dragon Queen shows up in the wild!

I’m really looking forward to purchasing this book for myself in December! I may sound like a broken record (or overly enthusiastic), but I’ve really been looking forward to this book for a few months now and everything I’m seeing thus far has me excited for it.

Dragonlance Dragonlance Shadow of the Dragon Queen shows up in the wild!

I love it! Seriously, I’m so excited for this book. And the gnomish devices especially look like so much fun.

    D&D General Settings with Story

Reply to OP. I think I prefer settings with an “over-story”. For example, with Dragonlance I would argue that the “over story” is evil dragon-armies are terrorizing the world, and that each individual dragonlance campaign’s story is/should be about defeating the specific dragon-army tasked...

Krynn Returns: A Preview of Dragonlance

As someone who played in a Hoard of the Dragon Queen campaign where the DM implied that Tiamat’s agents were plundering from multiple worlds and not just the Forgotten Realms, I really like this idea.

    D&D 5E (2014) Potions in your game

In my games potions are spells in liquid form. If the spell requires your action (or bonus action) to cast, then drinking the potion requires the same to duplicate the desired spell effect. healing word and intellect fortress potions have proven quite popular with my players.

RPG Evolution: Who Invented the Ice Dragon?

In the homebrew campaign I’m working on (currently dubbed “the Refracted World”) white dragons aren’t made of ice, but their breath weapon does deal cold damage in the form of a cone of freezing-cold air.

D&D 5E (2014) How Are Orcs Different In Your World? (+)

Since I’m currently building a homebrew setting, here are four things about orcs in said setting: 1. They are a matriarchal society. Look, I realize Volo’s has problems, but the one part of said book I really, really liked was the implication that orcs are secretly matriarchal. 2. What...

D&D 5E (2024) What PHB races should have darkvision?

The only playable species which I believe should have dark vision are dwarves, but to be perfectly honest, I’d rather none of them have dark vision and the PCs rely on torches.

    Dragonlance Dragonlance "Reimagined".

Reply to OP. I’m really excited for the upcoming Dragonlance adventure and considering the number of creative liberties I myself have taken with Dragonlance in my home games, it would be rather hypocritical of me to complain about any changes WOTC is making to the setting.

Dragonlance Do you plan to buy Dragonlance?

You bet! For all its flaws, I like dragonlance and I’m really excited to see WOTC new take on the setting, especially since it seems like their approach to it matches what I would like to see. Namely, Dragonlance as the war setting.
