    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I think on the one hand it makes for a simpler game at character creation and creates less noise on the character sheet. But it’s also much easier for a new game than a new edition of a game that wants to concern itself with backwards compatibility. My personal hot take is that if you’re doing...

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

Ah. Well, yes. Right-O. Carry on. 😝

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

If you go into it with the mindset that the system is flexible and you can discard what doesn’t work for you, then it’s perfectly fine…though I do prefer the organization of 2e and would probably do that instead. 😉

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

Yes, but my point is, as a DM, when do you stop overtuning the encounter?

    That’s a great point!

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

So I think the problem is that it worked great for Tucker, but in all the retellings and embellishments and then the r/rpghorrorstories that spin off of it, it ended up playing into a common theme at the time - the DM as adversary who was gonna beat the players. The joy of shocked players...

How does a Player contribute to the overall tabletop RPG experience?

As a player, I try to pick up whatever the DM is laying down for the campaign, and then support that. Like, if I'm playing a Mothership adventure like Another Bug Hunt, and I'm playing a Marine, I want to play that Marine like one of the tropes that you might see in Aliens - cocky, confident...

The Chartreuse shortage is also creating a market for other liqueurs designed to replace it. I've heard while none match the taste by themselves, some are good enough that their profile in the actual cocktails are really close, or just really good in their own right.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

Gah, pet peeve time! Unless you’re a mod or it’s a + thread, you really don’t get to control how people engage with the topic, and henpecking people for not engaging the way you’d like them to is some BS.

Or to piggy back on @Ryujin - there is a Cocktails thread on ENWorld, and maybe this is the right evening for a refreshing beverage?

    Cocktails

I concur with the author. It's refreshing to see them rein in production rather than yield to pressure, and it does make finding the bottles kind of exciting as well. And at least where I'm at, prices are likewise capped at a certain point to prevent speculation.

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

Yes, but the balance is very rarely addressed when Tucker's kobolds comes up. It's always positioned as a gotcha. It's one thing for a party of tier 1 characters to face a difficult or deadly kobold encounter versus tier 2 or 3 characters who face a similar encounter. Starting from the point of...

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

The other thing about the Tucker's Kobolds story - why was it better to fight the big fire demons on level 10 who presumably are more intelligent than the kobolds on level 1? Was he underplaying the level 10 demons while overtuning the level 1 kobolds?

D&D General Tucker's Kobolds: worth using in 5e?

I think that's the starting point for using Tucker's Kobolds. Plan for how dangerous you want to make an encounter, and create the appropriate traps.

This was one of my favorite 5e campaigns to play in. Definitely one to pick up if you haven’t played it before.
