What are the biggest RPG crimes?

Players cheating is right up the top for me. I also don't look too kindly upon PC's attacking, stealing from or otherwise destroying party unity with the excuse of "I'm just playing my character". DMs playing favourites or punitively punishing players is also up near the top (especially...

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

I do not look forward to ever having to move my collection. I can only imagine how many separate boxes I'd have to spread the books across.

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

I'm surprised. I expected you to have a lot more.

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

I'm a bit of a pack-rat in general, but I have made a couple of small culls to my collection. Mostly the 3E core rulebooks and some 3rd party books I bought as part of the d20 glut that turned out to be very average books. I'm thinking about culling back some of my 3.5E collection as I've got...

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

How does one cull their PDF stuff? Apart from a few PDFs that I've bought from now defunct companies, the rest I could delete from my computer and re-download from my account at a later date without any issue.

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

All I can tell you is my 4ft wide shelf fits 65 hardcover 3.xE or 5E D&D books. It’s surprising as it doesn’t look like that many books until you actually count them.

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

I was actually surprised to find that I had that many hard copy books. Most of them fit on a 7ft x 4ft bookcase, so it didn't seem like that many. I'm tempted to see how many electronic RPG books I have, but I'm slightly scared to know the number. It would definitely be a lot more than the...

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

So I've got a 4ft wide bookshelf that fits about 65 hardcover books roughly PHB size. So 64ft is 16 times that amount. So that would be 1,040 books!

How Many RPG Books Do You Own?

So I've just spent the last few days cataloging in an Excel spreadsheet all of the hard copy RPG books I own. It was quite an interesting exercise. I was a little surprised to find that I have 253 RPG books in my collection across about a dozen different systems. If each book cost me an average...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Era: Lyres, Treacherous Traps, They Came from Beneath the Sea!, The Fantasy

Did you read my post? I specifically pointed out the fact that I didn’t know about Nord Games traps Kickstarter project, despite backing one (and possibly 2) of their previous Kickstarters. So they didn’t post an update on their previous projects, which is what I suggested they do.

RPG Crowdfunding News – Era: Lyres, Treacherous Traps, They Came from Beneath the Sea!, The Fantasy

Yeah, I can see how it would quickly become annoying if they overdid it, especially when they’re advertising another Kickstarter and the one you backed still hasn’t been delivered yet. I’ve seen updates like that do nothing but get backers of the original campaign angry. However, I’m sure...

RPG Crowdfunding News – Era: Lyres, Treacherous Traps, They Came from Beneath the Sea!, The Fantasy

Companies need to advertise their Kickstarters to previous backers more. I backed 2 previous Nord Games Kickstarters and this trap book is definitely something I'd be interested in, yet I had no idea about it until I saw this Kickstarter. Surely a quick update post in their previous Kickstarters...

Hobby Games: It Was a Very Good Year

Yep, I can see how it wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste, but in no way does that make it objectively bad. We don’t know exact sales figures, but multiple books in the Amazon top 50, years after their initial release says that it is at least going reasonably well. As for reviews, the first AP...

Hobby Games: It Was a Very Good Year

Ah, so my anecdotal experience doesn't mean anything, but your 'objective' opinion without any actual facts to back it up (i.e. anecdotal experience) does. Gotcha.

Hobby Games: It Was a Very Good Year

What? Since when is the quality of D&D books "objectively" bad? I'd love to know where you're get that from, because I haven't seen many negative reviews of 5E books and my group is enjoying the heck out of our game right now. We finished the PotA campaign and are halfway through ToA. The ToA...

Hobby Games: It Was a Very Good Year

If we assume that sales of the PHB at the start of 2016 were above sales of the PHB upon 5E's release (and there is no guarantee that is the case), a 49% increase from 2016 to 2018 is a massive win for 5E and points to a healthy future in the near term at least.

[LAST CHANCE!] Vote For Your Favourite RPG Podcasts Of 2018!

Yeah, I was hoping there might be a random chance that someone had compiled some of them into a list previously. I’m honestly surprised there are so many nowadays.

[LAST CHANCE!] Vote For Your Favourite RPG Podcasts Of 2018!

Wow there are a lot of D&D podcasts out there now. Is there anywhere that has a very short summary of what each of the podcasts is about? I realise they all probably have a website, but I’m just after a very general idea of what they are about. I.e. What podcasts are RPG advice, what ones are...
