    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

That would be its second surge. Paizo folks have indicated PF2 selling more than PF1. My point is the second best selling RPG isnt where you think the market is. The games you point out are a market, but not the market.

I love 3E and it certainly gave a head nod in the direction of old school play. The problem was there was always a "life hack" as the kids says that let you out of it. Wands keep the HPs filled, scrolls keep the spells slinging, returning weapons and ammo never deplete, etc...

I think 5E can deliver it, but probably not to the satisfaction of a fan of old school resource attrition. That is the thing about 5E, it doesnt cater specifically to anyone, but can allow anyone to work within it. The more you want the system to lean in particular, the more unsatisfied you will be.

I dont think its been the D&D game for 25+ years now. In the sense of tracking every arrow and drop of water to drink simulation anyways. Its moved more to character ability in spells to cast and special moves to make during a full adventuring day. Complicated by short rest type classes mixed in.

The resting discussions really need to consider the game portion along with the story portion. Is the game supposed to be a simulation? Then, pushing as far as you can go and risking a rest in a dangerous place has its own risks. Thats a rather old school approach. Then, there is the story or...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I bought my first place after the '08 crash. Took 10 years to build about 50K in equity. I bought a place with my wife and in 3 years we gained 120K! No way people can keep up with that!

I really enjoyed when DDO did this. It was like 4 mini level ups between levels. Of course, that likely means going back to mini feats and that might be a hill to struggle up.

If you lack any planning and rely on old school rando generators, yeah its sort of going through the motions. Urban and wilderness can work exactly the same as a dungeon delve if you plan it out accordingly. It doesnt have to be 6-8 adventures either, it can be just a few deadly ones. You gotta...

I'd assume that is adventuring days, not every single day of the life of the PCs. While undoubtedly some days will result in a number of encounters, some of those caravan days will be uneventful.

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

Not familiar and I looked it up. It sounds like aspects are like BIFTs. One example I saw was "sucker for a pretty face" which seems rather specific to me. I suppose after numerous sessions as GM id have 4 or 5 of these aspects memorized as players use them. Though, something like this seems...

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

How have BIFTs been implemented at your table? My experiences were they ended up being insignificant because the GM gave up early trying to remember the specifics of 4-5 different characters. I had higher hopes for it, but nobody I played with used it to any effect.

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

I guess my tastes are a little more sophisticated then simply fighting bandits and gobos for money. The motivations behind the bandits and gobos is likely a conspiracy that has far reaching implications. Though, I think thats getting more into adventure design territory. If you just want white...

D&D General Why do people like Alignment?

I think folks often look at alignment from a straight jacket perspective. As in, if you have X/Y on the sheet then only X/Y approved actions can be taken. When really I've always observed it (for folks on the material plane) as a moral compass. The character would most likely do X, but they are...
