    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I’d prefer a 4E add on instead of emergency surgery to insert it into the body myself. I also dearly miss the 3E cruft (assuming you don’t mean the math).

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I’m for sure in the camp that would take a stab at it without a hard reset. I think the idea of the “soul” of D&D is going to have 10,000 different feels.

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

I make my own usually, but in a pinch I go with Open Pit.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

I applaud 5.24E as I think it’s good enough and I’m tired of the hard breaks in D&D. Perfect! Let others reinvent the wheel.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Id keep 5E going, but start working on the modules to enhance the game that were talked about back during NEXT. Tactical combat, alignment, social mechanics, etc..

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Space Navies, Part 1

Reminds me of every game if Twilight Imperium ever. 4 players spend 5 hours building fleets to throw at each other while 1 player actually plays the game and wins.

There were a few stinkers but yeah generally the Sony x-men movies were great. I thought Deadpool and Wolverine sucked.

D&D General The Great Railroad Thread

It seems that equating linear games to railroads isn’t too far though? It appears so depending on who you ask.

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Space Navies, Part 2

Situational indeed. A number of questions make it more or less likely. Are spaceships common enough that you could scuttle one without any impact? Are planets plentiful enough and within reach you could render one inhospitable to human life? Hard to imagine now as I suppose it would have been...

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Space Navies, Part 2

Not, really no. As development of human society we have moved largely passed scorched Earth type wars. Nukes have been around for quite some time, and despite numerous conflicts, nobody is pressing the button to be done with it. A lot of it has to do with the infrastructure in place, intertwined...

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Space Navies, Part 2

There also seems to be a lot of wholesale writing off of the enemy in the essays. As if having the power to nuke by button would be used wantonly. Its true artillery became a primary mode of war between nation's navies, but there was still plenty of civilian interaction in which opening fire on...

D&D General DMs, how do you handle 'split party' situations?

I actually find it more challenging and thus more rewarding when the entire party is present and has to act accordingly in character around such instances. I agree its disruptive and shows a lack of trust if you feel players cant be trusted with meta knowledge. Fortunately, not something ive had...

D&D General The Great Railroad Thread

Thats a rather broad claim that could use some unpacking. Any specifics? Like railroading, I think folks are generalizing their experiences as inherent properties of a play style. Im having deja vu because ive been in sandbox games that lacked challenge also. Now, a sandbox advocate is going to...

D&D General The Great Railroad Thread

I’ve finally come to realize the note struck in me about the linear = railroad claim. I’ve experienced GM force to the point of railroad in sandbox games more than I have in linear ones. Yet, there is a notion that sandbox is railroad proof.

Geek Confessional Thread 2024 [NOW 2025!]

I really enjoyed DDO for a few years. I’ve not time for MMOs anymore tho.
