D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Sorcerers didn't steal metamagic, it was salvaged to give sorcerers something unique to do. It was evident the designers were struggling to nail down the mechanics through megafeats, as they stealthly took them away and nobody noticed. (This around the time they gave neovancian to wizards) Even...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

History repeats. All I know is that moving subclass choice from first to third level is like three steps backwards, likely to make things worse not better.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I'm one of those who have argued for putting wizard under sorcerer, but I must admit I did it in more of a bad faith and as a way to demonstrate some of my points rather than because I don't want wizards to exist as a separate class (I do prefer the split, if anything I might argue in favor of...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

I at, some point, made a thread about this. https://www.enworld.org/threads/on-whether-sorcerers-and-wizards-should-be-merged-or-not-they-shouldnt.670175/ My point is, the sorcerer (charismatic, instinctive, emotional, magic as nature and not a choice) contrasts with the warlock (sneaky...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

If they aren't classes, they aren't truly in the game. The wizard is an uber-speciffic baseline that doesn't allow enough breathing room for warlock and sorcerer to exist as subclasses. Out of "I studied to get magic" "I or someone else bargained for power" and "I just have magic" why is the...

Spoilers Bad Batch: Final Season *SPOILERS*

Not sure, she is still herself just cut loose. I'm glad she isn't working for the empire, or w might've had a Total Party Kill. I'm still a bit afraid we will get it in the end.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Don't forget is wizard fanboys fault that we got a half-baked/half-cooked sorcerer the first time around. Them complaining led to the designers wasting valuable playtest time on the fool's errand that was tue Mage uberclass.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

Your "sorcerer" lacks the narratives of the sorcerer, and still studies and needs an spellbook. That's not a sorcerer.

That's literally killing the sorcerer and giving its toys to the wizard.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

No, the only way to do a merge is by putting wizard into sorcerer. The other way around only leadsto killing the sorcerer and giving its toys to the wizard. In that other thread were I argued against merging, I proposed this subclass on a whim, on an hypothetical version that did away with the...

Oh, no. We had a thread four years ago that went for 42 pages. Ain’t going through that again.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

He is easy to scapegoat into the role, yes. Being the one of thecore three deigners to do the interviews about the sorcerer while beeing the only one of them to make it to late 3.5 which had lots of love for wizards with even disdain fr sorcerers (also having his name attached to Complete Mage...

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

It's something Skip Williams said on a blog or column at some point. May look for it later. Edit: Scratch that, the interview I thought included it doesn't say what I remembered it saying. I guess I just assumed that something I read somewhere else was from a legitimate source I knew.

D&D General One thing I hate about the Sorcerer

One doesn't need to be cynical to acknowledge the facts. Nobody in WotC -and TSR before them- actually likes or has liked the sorcerer ideas. And it is only through plain luck that their hand has been forced by external circumstance. The sorcerer started as a sort of tax paid to justify the page...

D&D General When Did Digital Art Become A Thing?

I know digital art is old. And even domestic digital art (the Koala pad started selling in 1983) , but I think the first domestic computers able to do quality digital art would be the Amigas(1985). I'm sure 3e art must have been at lesst traditionally handdrawn, and MTG art must have been all...

Plus they are malleable. They can more or less easily get someone ( from an artificer to a blacksmith) to make all the changes and adaptatio s to their bodies they deem appropriate, unlike fleshies. It isn't as if fantasy land has tons of plastic surgeons running around.
