That aspect of Common Law countries is nice. Here you do need to get a notary -yes, not just any lawyer will do- to have a valid will.

I meant that the independent quality and it being explicitly not a trade/craft don't figure into the Dictionary definition. I wasn't defending my arguments, I was rebating yours. I agree that the English usage doesn't seem to require remuneration as a necessary condition*. And I see this is...

More like they tend to be free in nicer places where they receive more maintenance and use nicer materials for the tilework. In less nicer places the owners have less resources to keep them up, or act like slumlords and use the barely minimum of everything.

In mine pay toilets are more like the norm. Ironically, free ones tend to be nicer.

When these jobs appeared, communities lived by gift economies. There was no trade(commerce) except for long distance exchanges. Once money was actually a thing, then these jobs evolved into professions.

There is a minor record company (Multimusic) that sells budget albums. They manage to do it through covers, alternate takes and later less popular records by the original artist. This latter group of songs sounds very, very off because the original songs were mostly acoustic ballads and the new...

Kinda. The first Star wars movie I saw was the Empire Strikes back (and it was mostly parts on TV), but I didn't really watch any of these in its entirety until I had already seen Episode I in the theater. Between Episodes I and II, I was hooked. Not even the rerelease in 95-96? I think? made...

Not exactly moving on to comics. At 5-6 dollars each, only obtainable in specialty stores, having fragmented stories and going increasingly more mature with time, odds are that kid isn't going to collect comics. The days of comics as a cheap and accessible entertainment are long defunct.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

The main point of your argument assumes a steady state of the universe. The original stars (and the first ones after them) didn't have planets and were made of only hydrogen and helium. Only newer stars had enough elements available in their formation to have planets. Yes our Sun might not be...

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

The thing is, we don't even know if the universe is infinite. We are trapped inside a relatively small (but actually immense) bubble outside of which we cannot know anything. And as time passes, that bubble will turn smaller and more stuff will be outside. Maybe not intelligence, but at least...

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

As I mentioned above, Aliens are essentially the same supernatural idea just cosplaying under a different coat of paint that makes it seem more plausible on a glance, but once you get into it a bit rationally, you notice it is very much not plausible if not outright impossible. (Because by...

I'd suggest leaving this tangent alone. The topic is polarized already and bordering on forbidden topics. The less excuses for animosity, the better. (Besides, do you wanna push your luck against the house?)

More like yesterday, but hadn't had the chance yet. I learned of the ITA (no, not the IPA) a proposed new alphabet im the 60s meant to be more phonetic than the standard English alphabet. It had 44 symbols and was thaught in some school districts (though not nation wide) It was a disaster...

In your defense, who is handling an eight year old "Chariots of the Gods"? (But again I was like that age when I got my paws on "Caballo de Troya"*) *In the Spanish speaking world there is a journalist turned writer who started writing about UFO then moved into gnostic/new age spirituality. His...
