    D&D General D&D Variants Forum

Not that old. My first time on the internet was in a museum for children (circa 1997) and all that existed was the Yahoo directory and the browser was Netscape.

What do you use to stream on your TV?

It's kind of my dream too. (I just want to carry my media on my phone not a NAS.) My biggest stumbling block is that I don't have a bluray drive. I'm little by little copying my CDs into high sampling wavs though.

What do you use to stream on your TV?

Roku all the way. I couldn't avoid Google tv when I bought a big 4k tv, but Roku is my preference.

About how artists learn. (And how it differs from AI)

Then learning it should be trivial and you don't need an arcane and complex piece of software trained on exabytes of pirated material and running on costly state of the art gpu clusters while spending tons of electricity and water for every art piece, right?/s n_n More seriously this idea of...

About how artists learn. (And how it differs from AI)

@Theory of Games I finally got to check names. The other book I wanted to suggest was Learning to Draw by Robert Kaupelis. It is kind of foundational for many art programs. Also you can check books by Andrew Loomis to get started.

    General video game discussion

Speaking of this, I'm looking for cheapish indie games. I have about $10 in wallet. I've considered some classics that are cheap, but I can't buy them all and I want to try newer stuff.

About how artists learn. (And how it differs from AI)

For the stages of development, read "Creative and Mental Growth" by Viktor Lowenfeld. For the effects of aphantasia in artists this video by wired is very explicative (They start to get to it around halfway through the video, but there are other artist testimonials across youtube) As for the...

So far we only have one ruling (that training is transformative). We still have many pending cases and even the case where that ruling comes from is still open -for piracy-. And we don't know if that ruling will stand on appeal or if it will turn into precedent.

Particularly because the copyright holder isn't selling more of them so they cause no monetary harm. (And given the track record, they won't)

Though if I photocopy my own OG 5e PHB, bind it and use that copy in the table in order to preserve the original book (after all, WotC isn't making nor selling any more of them) that might be fair use.

About how artists learn. (And how it differs from AI)

Hello, I keep noticing a few misconceptions about the way artists (and ultimately all humans) learn to do art. How these misconceptions lead to oversimplification and then in turn to use those oversimplifications to conclude "that AI isn't that different from how artists do it", and "artists do...

Without Copyright, there are no rights to sell. It is just whoever has the most money capturing our shared culture through driving everybody else out of business. Before copyright that is what happened. Copyright gives us a framework to contain the power of the media moguls. Yes believe it or...

Judge Rules That AI Training Doesn't Violate Copyright

@kigmatzomat As I said upthread, this ruling isn't the dilver bullet that will open wide the floodgates. If anything, it is quite damning.

Also with a Xerox, as well as stuff like a CD-Burner, the company is only providing the means to produce a copy, but the material copied is provided by the user. In the cases of Gen-AI, the system itself has the information to produce the infringing copy, which means it is storing some form of...
