    D&D General DALL·E 3 does amazing D&D art

Although as a bonus, they speak dwarvish. I think…

How hard is learning a new TTRPG system?

There are several types. Some are mechanical. In D&D, we get used to "your turn = move + action + bonus action" in any order, and move can be split. In other games, your move has to happen before your action, and once you've stopped moving, you won't be able to move until your next turn. Other...

How hard is learning a new TTRPG system?

This is what makes or breaks the deal for me. I'll play along with a pre-made character for a one shot but if I'm committing to a campaign, I want to create my own character and know enough about the rules to make informed decisions. Usually, I end up purchasing the game's corebook but i like...

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8 Druid discussion

I mean yeah, my favourite solution would have been half a dozen templates unifying ranger beastmaster’s animal companion and Druid’s wild shape features, each allowing three special abilities distinguishing between specific animals within their categories, but that’s not the way they chose. The...

D&D General What did D&D teach you?

I mean, obviously D&D alone didn’t teach it all, but it was one of the earliest motivations and main source of English writings I had access to (that and my dad’s Scientific American mags).

D&D General What did D&D teach you?

The English language, actually. Not all books were translated to French, or else were hard to find, so it taught me English.

    D&D 5E (2024) Playtest 8 Druid discussion

They weren’t, but they do have an opportunity now to make them balanced for player use (if only for the benefit of druid wild shapes and conjure animals spells). I’m curious to see whether they will attempt to address that.

How hard is learning a new TTRPG system?

Echoing what many above have said, some systems are pretty crunchy and require a bit of learning before getting comfortable with it. Many (most?) other systems are pretty easy to learn really, but it can take a while to get in the right mindset. Honestly, it takes a lot more time to « unlearn »...

What's Your "Sweet Spot" for a Skill system?

The One Ring hits my sweet spot for skills. A skill set tailored to the game/setting, and «common» skills separated from «combat» skills so that players won’t feel forced to double down on combat skills at the expense of everything else, or become skill monkeys at the cost of being complete...

D&D General Do you incorporate holiday or festive themes into your games?

Of course they would. Imagine the loot!

D&D General Class that fits this personality

First time I hear about someone being described both as a jock AND a nerd… Sounds like the genius football coach kinda deal. So, battlemaster fighter? One that plays by the rules, more of the tactician, team-player type, wearing the colours of their unit/school/lord. Paladin could work too.

D&D General Do you incorporate holiday or festive themes into your games?

As others said, I’ve run several in-game holidays and festivals but no real-world holiday « special episode » or mini-campaign/one-shot. That being said, in-game holidays (regardless of the setting) typically share many similarities with contemporary ones in the first place, or with pagan...

D&D 5E (2024) What variant rules do you want to see?

Same Actually, that’s what I thought they were going for when they were talking about the modularity of 5e rules back in 2012-2013. I was also hoping for two or three magic/spellcasting systems in parallel to rest variants to match different genres

What Is Your Favorite Campaign Setting?

Star Wars and Forgotten Realms remain my favourite; both of which are beautifully convoluted and full of things to ignore and others to expand upon. I also like Eberron and am discovering Rokugan these days. Oddly, I love, love, love Middle Earth as a setting, but quickly run into paralysis...

D&D General 0 HP Magic Missile = Death?

I rule magic missile as a single instance of damage per target hit. The verbiage talking about individual missiles dealing 1d4+1 damage makes it easier to scale and divide among target, but I don't think they were meant to be individual instances of attacks causing multiple concentration checks...

The End of Everything Pits D&D Heroes Against Cthulhu Mythos Villains

yeah, same here. Although tackle with Cthulhu's gang as an open and upfront campaign's premise does pique my interest. I'd be down for that!

    D&D 5E (2024) So what's with 2024 and beyond?

Somethings never change, and clearly this one does. A bit, anyway. So it gotta be some other thing.

What Property That Has Never Had A TTRPG Adaptation Deserves one?

Sounds a bit weird, but I'd love a "The Adventures of Tintin" RPG. The "Supernatural" TV series has more than enough material to populated several RPG sourcebooks. There has been many homebrews and everything-but-in-name "My Little Pony" RPGs, but was there ever an official one?

I'm ready for a new Star Wars RPG

well, they got all this Mandoverse lore to publish a new post-RotJ era sourcebook if they want to. They'd be foolish to pass on that, unless they're waiting for Filioni's movie...
