    Metamagic spells

I recall once seeing a system for metamagic feats to be converted into spells instead of being feats, and that spell then modifying (metamagicking) the next actual spell that was cast. Does anyone have a link to this thread?

Odd observation re Skills and levels

I wonder if these bonus skill points can't be re-phrased as a certain number of bonus Skill Focus feats, and then a note in the multi-classing rules to say that if you multi-class into a new class that would have more, then you immediately gain additional bonus Skill Focus feats equal to the...

Gender modifiers: the other side of the coin

Sorry, but you really don't have any idea what you are talking about. Chainmail bikinis are not armour, and the tendency for tender bits of flesh to get caught between the links (I'm thinking upper arm here, even if you assume the bikini is actually lined, which most artwork doesn't) would...

    Is a bane weapon aligned?

Unless the weapon also has some form of alignment specified, it doesn't. And yes, that does mean an unaligned demonbane weapon is rather useless. However, the character may have acquired the good property from some other source, such as a class feature.

Gender modifiers: the other side of the coin

Or just reflect the difference in your point-buy allocations / how you allocate your die rolls / how you role-play your character's impression of their own abilities.

Gender modifiers: the other side of the coin

Well, yes. It was ironic. It was also poking fun at the stupidity of making such stat bonuses and penalties, if you read it carefully. Because frankly, +6 Wisdom isn't nearly enough if you want to reflect real life.

Gender modifiers: the other side of the coin

Now if we were to give women any modifiers... Disclaimer: I do not recommend using these in any actual game. -2 Strength. It is known that women have a lower potential strength due to the effects of sex hormones. +2 Constitution. Women are able to survive food/water deprivation better than...

Gender modifiers: the other side of the coin

Ironic that you argue against gender-specific modifiers (a supposedly sexual-equality idea), then post some cheesecake of an alleged warrior. Real women fighters wear armour. Proper armour, not that silly chainmail bikini stuff. Women Fighters In Reasonable Armor

Weapon Speeds For d20 Fantasy Gaming

To me the biggest point against this system is that it creates one-level and two-level "blips" during which (for example) longswords are statistically superior to great swords. Yes, overall, across 20 levels, great swords will be superior longswords. But at any given character level, that isn't...

    Help - New Blinding look?

Yeah, it probably isn't the sort of colour scheme associated with workplace-approved websites. But let;'s face it -- this isn't the sort of site you should be browsing at work anyway, unless you work in the games industry of course. The "work-safe" scheme should be the option, not the default...

    Looking for Some Conversions.

WotC did issue permission for anyone to create statistic-only conversions of all the old modules. That permission does not extend to providing any information about the scenario content itself though, so you'd still need the original module to make sense of any permitted conversion.

    Help - New Blinding look?

I had thought it was a server glitch that was causing the normal css to not load. Good to see it was merely a human error. I've switched it back to the normal black look now.

A simple fix to balance fighters vs. casters ?

One thing I noticed in an examination of 1e/2e save tables is that fighters start with the worst saves in all areas, but end with the best saves in all areas. There's no way to replicate this exactly in 3e using the usual templates, but I would be strongly tempted to allow the fighter a number...

can a Simulacrum craft for you?

ok, I see how cheesy that is now. I think I'll houserule that level restoring powers restore the experience levels back to how they were, but not the experience points. So someone trying this cheese to the max ends up at 15th level for power, but with the experience points of a character who...

can a Simulacrum craft for you?

sadly, the funky shenanigans doesn't quite work. Being hit by a wight gives you one negative level. After 24 hours, that negative level goes away, whether you pass or fail the Fortitude saving throw. That Fort save is to determine if you lose a level at that time. Level loss is not the same as...

    Done with the hard copy

There are no legal pdfs of WotC's 3rd edition material. Plenty of illegal copies exist, but it is against board rules to discuss where or how to get them. The 3e SRD is freely available online. Pathfinder and various other 3e clones are commercially available.

    Handle Animal Skill

Even if you reduce the Intelligence of the dragon (or the whatever), it still remains a creature of the dragon (or whatever) type or subtype. A reduced Intelligence score doesn't cause the creature to become of the animal type. Handle Animal is still subject to the same restrictions and...

    D&D 3.x D&D 3.5 Weather: Lightning

Realistically, unless you are the tallest object in the area, it's just not going to happen. Even if you stand on a horse on a hill wearing wet copper armour in a severe thunderstorm, you still have to shout out "Pholtus is a fink" to be in with a serious chance of being struck. As long as PCs...

    Custom poison rules?

    A good starting point for conversion is the table in d20 Future p145. Basically, d20 wealth is a logarithmic value, with a +8 modifier translating to x10. Or in other words, +1 translates to x1.333. 0 1 1 1.333521497 2 1.778279583 3 2.371374052 4 3.162278277 5 4.216966062 6...

    Slings are... wow, really?

If you find yourself with a party of PC shooter builds that routinely mow down enemies, then it's possible you aren't giving them appropriate challenges. Shooters are best challenged by either enemy shooters. This really should be their standard approach if PCs are shooting back all the time...
