The EN World Best Sellers List 4Q2015

Doing this has been a goal of mine since I wrote for Bleeding Cool. I'm glad to see it getting actualized. The wisdom has always been "Adventures Don't Sell," which is why Wizards farmed out adventures to the 3rd party, back when 3e came out. It looks like this might bear out that wisdom.

The EN World Best Sellers List 4Q2015

Books have the New York Times (and many others) Bestsellers List. Movies and television shows have websites that track box office numbers and Nielsen ratings. Comics have sales lists all over the place. What we don’t have a lot of for role-playing games are lists of what is selling. There are...

The talks started in 2015, and were instigated by Hasbro. The article listed the net worth and stock values of the...

Enter Into The Frozen Castle With Kobold Publishing

I wouldn't expect to see 12 page adventures being done in print.

Enter Into The Frozen Castle With Kobold Publishing

From the makers of the Tyranny of Dragons campaign for D&D fifth edition, comes a new adventure that expands the campaign. I was given an early look at the cover for Frozen Castle from Kobold Press. Debuting soon via the DM Guild program from Wizards of the Coast (I am told that it should hit...

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

There are always those abilities that aren't really quantifiable, however. Intelligence. Wisdom. Knowledge. Artistic ability. Measuring the amount of damage that one thing does and comparing it to the damage that another thing does is quantifiable, but it ultimately is a small part of things to...

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

    Balance is a myth.

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

Of the two people that are in our group, one wasn't born with OD&D came out (and never played it or any variant of it until our games) and of course my friend who had never played tabletop. Both of them were able to see the foundation that was there, and build their thing from that foundation...

    Why OD&D Is Still Relevant

Since it was probably all over your feeds already (and has been mentioned on the front page here), I won’t go into a great deal of detail except to say that the first edition of Dungeons & Dragons is out in PDF on all of the OneBookshelf related-sites. A big part of the problem with having...

Campaign Prep From The Other Side Of The Screen And Unusual Campaign Approaches

We haven't really gotten that far, yet. We've only just had character creation for Stacy's Werewolf game this week. I think that the best chance of "crossover" NPCs will be the "council" that seems to be guiding the supernaturals in our world.

Campaign Prep From The Other Side Of The Screen And Unusual Campaign Approaches

I’m going to talk about campaign prep again today, but from the other side of the screen. This week started a game being run by a friend of mine, Werewolf 20th Anniversary Edition rules (with heavy house ruling she is telling us, but I am really not knowledgeable enough in the rules to be able...

Why A GM Can Never Have Too Many Bestiaries

And yet, I have not attacked a single person. Opinions are not some golden ideal, if people cannot handle having their opinions scrutinized then perhaps the internet is not the place for them. Keep in mind that I have been doing this since 2003. I am a known quantity, particularly to the owner...
