Harlem Unbound By Darker Hue Studios To Be In Special Collection Of Museums

In another step towards the acknowledgement of tabletop role-playing games as a legitimate art form, Chris Spivey of Darker Hue Studios has announced that three museums are making Harlem Unbound, his Call of Cthulhu supplement set in the era of the Harlem Renaissance, part of their special...

Taking A Look At The "New" POD Versions of Star Frontiers And The D&D Rules Cyclopedia

I've had the Rules Cyclopedia PDFs for forever. I picked up a bundle of them and Gazeteers on a special a year or so ago.

    Kobold Press' Warlock Gaming Zine

I love zines. And, really, who doesn't? Zines are the ultimate expression of the DIY (do-it-yourself) aesthetic that has always been central to role-playing games. With crowd funding sites like Patreon, zines can become, while perhaps not profitable but at least self-sustaining. Kobold Press is...

Where Do They Get Their Laws?

Since these articles are easy enough to do, I look forward to seeing pitches for new articles from everyone in this thread. You'll find the information you need here.

Taking A Look At The "New" POD Versions of Star Frontiers And The D&D Rules Cyclopedia

With the rise of PDF and POD (print on demand) publishing powering more role-playing publishers, one thing that I have advocated for a while now is that there is really no longer much of a reason for games to go out of print. Today I am going to look at the new POD versions of Star Frontiers and...

Just What IS The Fudge Roleplaying Game?

So, what is the Fudge Roleplaying Game? Since the launch of the Princess Bride Roleplaying Game on Kickstarter a few days ago, there have been more than a few people wondering about this system. It is a fair question to ask, too. It has been more than a decade since the last major releases...

Fantasy and Science Fiction Writer Victor Milan Passes Away

American Fantasy and Science Fiction writer Victor Milan passed away after a battle with cancer. Probably known best for his Cybernetic Samurai science fiction series, Milan also wrote novels set in the Battletech, Mechwarrior and Forgotten Realms settings. He also wrote a number of Deathlands...

    A Change Is Coming...

I think that conflating page count with influence is, at best, disingenuous. Looking at something like the Fantasy Grounds usage figures, 7th Sea doesn't even make the top 20 for the site. Yes, 7th Sea made a lot of money, and generated a lot of content, but what has it done lately? Even the...

    A Change Is Coming...

I don't think that streams should promote anything except for the way that they want to play.

    A Change Is Coming...

I think that one of the best things that games streaming does is to show that there are different approaches to playing a game. I've approached games with a "rules are not (that) important" attitude for decades. For me, the most important thing is what happens at the "table," with the group of...

    A Change Is Coming...

I haven't seen a LotR movie since they were in the theaters. I doubt I could quote them if I tried.

    A Change Is Coming...

It does signal a change, it is just one more change in a series of changes over the last 15 years or so. We shouldn't minimize the impact of streaming on RPGs, as this Kickstarter and the sales of books like the Tal'Dorei campaign setting demonstrate.
